Does anyone have a source of supply for the Transynd ATF that is used in Allison automatic transmissions. My local Allison dealer sells it in nothing less than one gallon sizes for $39.00 , or 5 gallon pails or 55 gallon drums. I just would like to have a little on hand for a rare top off if needed. Would love to have it in just a quart, but will buy a gallon if its the only way it is sold.
Best Regards!

Looks like $39/gal isn't all that bad. Also beware of unapproved substitutes. Here's an iRV2 .com thread on the topic you might find very helpful. Be sure to go over all three pages of that thread.

Thanks! I am aware of the unapproved ATF's, A**oil, to name one. Glad to hear that is a good price on Transynd, I want to stick with the ATF Allison approves and uses, it is in my transmission.
Best Regards!

Hi Paul,
According to the July, 2005 edition of the Workhorse Gas Motor Home Chassis Guide, the Allison 1000MH automatic transmission was factory filled with DEXRON®-III from the “2001 Model Year Chassis through April 5, 2005 chassis build”. TranSynd was not used until “April 6, 2005 and newer chassis builds”. Also, in the Allison Transmission Operator’s Manual that came with our coach, under “Fluid Recommendations”, it states “Any fluids meeting DEXRON®-III specifications are acceptable for use in the 1000, 2000, and 2400 Series transmissions.”
So, unless you’ve changed over to TranSynd, then I don’t think it’s necessary to use TranSynd just to top off. DEXRON®-III is available by the quart at local auto parts stores and GM dealerships. I don’t know if TranSynd is available at all GM dealerships, but they have it where I work in gallon containers, however, I don’t know how much it costs.
When the time comes for us to add or change the fluid, I will use DEXRON®-III or possibly the new DEXRON®-VI which has superseded DEXRON®-III as the factory fill for all Hydramatic transmissions starting with the 2006 model year.
I know this is more than you asked, but I’d hate to see you spending your money on TranSynd if you didn’t really need to. Just my opinion.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the info. I have indeed changed over to the Transynd. I feel beeter having the best ATF in my transmission, it does work hard and I tow a Honda Element behind my MH. I'm just a little picky and wouldn't want to top off with the Dexron ATF if I needed to.
I just checked my transmission fluid and it is all topped off to the correct level, so it is a moot point, but I like to have extra just in case.
Best Regards!

Hi paul,
Just checked pricing on what we stock here at work for TranSynd. We have it in gallon containers which retail for $60.00 and also in quarts for $17.00! Yikes! $39.00/gallon sounds pretty good. The GM part # for the quart containers is 12378515. Maybe you could at least get one of those to have on hand from a GM dealer near you.
