Received a really thoughtful Christmas gift from one of our sons, a new KOA guide book and $100 in KOA Kamping Koupons. As I looked through the guide, I saw the Circus Circus KOA in Las Vegas now charges up to $109 per night!!!
We stayed there in 2002 and paid $18 per night. Of course it was before KOA took them over but it is still just a big parking lot on the strip. I know its a great location, but what do they provide to justify $109 per night?
Maybe they provide maid service and dump your tanks for you???
Best Regards!

It's like buying real estate, location, location, location! The better the location, the higher the price. I guess it's great to be walking distance to many of the casinos and not have to deal with the traffic.
Most of the private campgrounds in the Florida Keys charge $100+ per night during the winter high season, but at least there you are on or close to the ocean and beach. We try to time our trips to the Keys during the late Fall, early Spring season when it's not so busy or expensive. We also like camping in COE or NPS campgrounds and using our Golden Age Passport for half price camping around $8-$10 per night!

KOA seems to really take advantage of pricing for location. We stayed at the LV one for a wedding at Circus Circus before it was a KOA and we sure did not pay that price. Once we stayed at KOA in Kissimmee FL and payed a high price but it got us the greatest location for some serious health problems and the staff could not have been nicer or more supportive...which we find is true of most KOA's we've stayed at. We too like the Corp of Engineers, state parks and other lovely settings but sometimes KOA fits the bill.
