Okay, it's a new day so here's a new topic. Often you have to connect two sewer hoses with a plastic coupler. We have one of those red ones but the hoses leak where they join with the coupler. Anyone else have the problem? Any solutions? We tie a plastic bag around where they are joined and then dispose of it but I would really like to find something that doesn't leak!

We've always used the Presto-O-Fit (blue couplers) with success.

Below is the coupler we use for hooking up more than one hose.  I might add that we also use a large stainless steel hose clamp around the connection as well, so maybe that's the secret to our success with the product.

I also have the Valterra hose set up and have noticed a little leakage at the coupling, too.  It seems to me that it only leaks when I dump grey water, not black (thank goodness). 

 I have tried screwing the coupling into the hose tighter and that seems to cure 90% of the leaks.  I rarely have to use two hoses together so it is not a huge issue for me.  I never have any leaks when I use just one hose and the connector is the elbow that fits in the dump station hole.  Go figure.

Second the Presto-fit. The red Valterra sets have almost always been a little leaky. The press/friction fit couplings, ultra heavy duty hoses and snug clamps take out 100% of the leaks.

So far we have never needed more than one length of sewer hose, but then we are not yet fulltimers so our experience is somewhat limited.   We do have the red connectors and a 2nd hose so will have to experiment next time out. 

I too have the red hose fittings, however I have never had a problem with them.  My coupler is more of a permenant connection, it sounds like your's may not be.  I have SS hose clamps at all fittings.  If you must take it apart , I might suggest leaving the coupler attached to the up stream side of your hose and use a stainless hose clamp there. If it still leaks and you can live with it being a permenant connection you might want to try and seal around the ends with a bead of silicone caulk.  Work it up into the end and seal it real good and you should stop the leak I would think.  I hope this may help.

Sometimes we take the hoses apart to use them separately so the caulking won't work. I think we'll try the Presto fit one to see if it's any better.

I have used so many different sewer hoses and have been unhappy with any of them. I do believe that the Blueline system is the best of the 3 inch hose systems and that is what I was using prior to my purchase of the Sewer Solution system from Camping World. In my personal opinion this is the best system short of a masertor. It takes a lot of water to flush so may not be too good for a septic system but there are no leaks and it is a positive seal. I hope you find something that resolves your issues.
