As we hunt for our perfect MH, I keep finding manufacturers are putting in these Euro Chairs instead of regular recliners.  They are very uncomfortable and you have to constantly find a place for the detached foot stool when you drive it.  A recliner self contains the foot rest so no stowing issues.  And the foot stool is a misslle hazard in a panic stop!  

Why do they do this?  DO people actually LIKE them or is it just a cost issue and buyers will accept an RV on the lot with one?

Don't get me started on those J-lounges, either!

I guess some of us do find them comfortable.  Plus no seat belts in the euro chairs, you don't sit in them while driving.  Everyone I have talked to who has one says the ottomon is not a missile while driving.

We were thinking about trading out our recliners for Euro chairs mainly because the recliners just take up too much room where they sit and they are hard to swivel enough. Of course ours are in a 5th wheel so the layout is much different from a motorhome. I can see the inconvenience in a motorhome.

We got rid of our recliners and got the euro chairs because of the weight of the recliners they at least in our fiver were very heavy and both had to be moved back when slides went in. So we sold them in our house sale when we went full timing. I put one of my foot stools in our bedroom fiver to sit on when getting dressed while the other one is in the living room. I agree they are not as comfy as the large recliners but for now they will do for us.

We are thinking of getting a motorhome for fulltiming and I wondered this same thing. In a couple of new MHs, I tried the Euro chair and did not like them as well as my rockers in the 5er. I guess everyone looks for something different, but I think I will push for the recliner.

The other thing I thought of is that there maybe Euro chairs and EURO chairs -- some may be much better than others.

We were looking at replacing the recliners in our fifth wheel with the euro chairs, as I found them to be more comfortable. In looking around we found price ranges from $150 to over $2500. Obviously the lower priced ones were junk, that would have lasted maybe a few months and were not comfy at all. In talking to a salesperson she said in order to get reasonable quality you should plan on $1400 per chair. We ended up with the same chairs Howard and Linda have from LazyBoy. We would have went with the Euro chairs, but not for that price.

If you are around Elkhart, IN then please stop by Brad & Hall to look at RV furniture and try out the chairs, sofas, etc.  They had euro chairs that we thought were comfortable for about $600 and we were tempted to replace the recliner in our motorhome.

Isn't life great.  No two people are the same.  Judy and I didn't mind the Euro Loungers, but we like to nap in our recliners and the Euro Loungers just didn't feel right.  So, we sold our Euro Loungers in a yard sale and replaced them with Lazy Boy recliners, just the opposite of some of you others - two bad we hadn't gotten together earlier (could have made a nice trade).

I am a little late in commenting on these Euros but I want to put my two cents in. They go with nothing in the units we looked at. They are modern to say the least and they do not fit the decor most units have. They may be comfortable to some but I find them very uncomfortable.

As someone said earlier, there are Euro Chairs and there are EURO Chairs.  I'm not sold on the look, but as for comfort we found ones in the $800 range (on sale) that are fantastic.  Dania furniture in Chicago carries about 20 different styles of these chairs http://www.daniafurniture.com/?page=shop/category_items&category_id=e98b2cc400d3d1fab8c62f99d010f336, and I'd say several of them were the most comfortable chairs I've ever sat in. We plan on buying some for our current rig and switching them to our fulltime rig once we go fulltime. Our current recliners look good but are the most uncomfortable HEAVY things.  The chairs at Dania come in multiple sizes (S,M,L) depending on your build.  It's a brand out of Sweden - can't remember the name.  Yes they are very pricey, but since they and the couch are are only real furniture we'll have once we go fulltime, we are willing to pay for the comfort and quality.   Also, losing the heavy recliners will give us some extra weight to play with.

We are planning on stopping at Brad & Hall when we are in Elkhart the next time when we go for a tour of the Mobile Suites factory.  If they have something cheaper and just and comfortable, I'm all for it.

The leather Stressless by Ekornes Eurochairs are very comfortable.  My In-Law's have two of them and they are very happy with them.  They are also expensive, but you get what you pay for as they say!  They come in different sizes and colors and have a separate matching ottoman.  I think we'll be getting two of them when we buy our new fifthwheel.

I have had a "Stressless" for over five years and believe it is the most comfortable and durable chair ever made.  There is a wide selection of styles, sizes and leathers.  Pricey ($1300. on sale in Knoxville, TN, five years ago).

Our recliner is fixed to the floor and it is awkward to get behind it. A few days ago we had to fish our cat out from hiding behind it since she didn't want to get caught and needed to be. A Euro-chair would have made that chore easier.

Okay, but what is the attraction of a cat???

Most dogs also look for hiding spots when it is bath or vet time. I know many that could wedge themselves behind our chair just like our cat. Not to mention how creative children can be when they do not want to be found.

You guys are too much! That was great I can see that this is a matter of preference. Just now I don't have a EURO chair but a recliner. I am thinking of changing that so, I'm glad you all brought it up. I looked at them a the Tampa RV Show last January, tried a few out and thought they were comfortable. I guess I'll go try one out again before I make a final decision and sit in it a while. My motto is you get what you pay for (usually) so I know quality vs. price will be an issue. Thanks for all the imput though. By the way I was considering a cat, but have changed my mind..

Good thing you changed your mind because they tend to leave hairballs on both recliners and Euro-chairs...

Just curious, would you consider purchasing the standard RV Euro-chair, or one that you could buy via a traditional retailer such as IKEA?  Probably would be lots cheaper than an RV specific chair.
