I'm interested in learning more about Jayco 5th wheels. I have a brochure on the "Designer" that looks promising, but you know how the marketing department can make things look.

Does anyone know about the company and how they stand behind their products?

HOWARD!   A couple days ago in your journal post you mentioned a couple (Phil & Barb) that were fulltiming in a Jayco Eagle. How do I get in touch with them for more information?

From what I know, Jayco is not considered suitable for full-timing.  In fact, I think their brochures state something to that effect.  Otherwise, they are ok from our experience.  We had a new Jayco Class C motorhome in the mid 1980's and it didn't give us any problems.  However, that's when I was working so it didn't get a lot of heavy use.

I sent you an email, regarding Phil & Barb.  We didn't get the chance to exchange contact information, but they are NOT full-timing in their Jayco Eagle.  They are weekenders.

I don't recall anyone we have met full-timing in a Jayco or at least it doesn't stand out in our memories.  I'm sure there are some Jayco full-timers out there somewhere, but most of the ones we have seen in campgrounds have been vacationers.

Jayco was one of three manufacturers we visited before we bought our Carriage, because we had seen the Jayco Designer at the Hershey RV Show and really liked them. When we asked about the warranty covering fulltiming, they were very quick to emphatically point out that they do not cover them for fulltiming. The guide even went on to explain why. She said they build them with the expectation that people will only use them for weekends sometimes and maybe a week or two on vacation per year, and that 365 days of use a year would be way more than they expect. As you might imagine, we quickly lost interest.

They look nice, and have nice floorplans, and they also use Amish employees, like the Carriage folks, but I don't believe they are built to withstand the rigors of fulltime use.

Sorry to be negative, but it's something you need to consider if you're going to fulltime.
