We have reservations in December for 2 weeks. Has any one been to this RV Park at the very tip of the South Padre Island? I hear it will be windy and no shade. Any suggestions for restaurants or must see or do in the area? Plan to check out the area for the winter months when we are Full Timing.

First let me say your dog is precious. As I said in other posts we are shopping for a MH, so I don't know the RV park location but I do know South Padre and have the following info. First, there are few if any trees, it is windy when it is windy. I have been when there was practically no wind and wished for some wind. The sand on the beaches is very nice. Be sure to check with someone before you go in the water, they do have a lot of Portuguese Man of War and Jelly Fish at times. I had a three wheel accident back in the 80's and at the Hospital I got to put my check for 3 wheeler or Portuguese Man of War. I'll take a Potuguese Man of War anytime! Louie's backyard is a great sunset location for happy hour and you can eat outside. We had fabulous lobster at the South Padre Yaucht Club. Our daughter spent a week there last week and said there were other great places to eat. I will get with her and get some names to you. I can't remember the names (senior moment). For now that is some information. Just enjoy and sound of the surf and smells of the sea. Ahhhh, I am jealous. I CAN"T wait to get started!

Jerry and Dianne,
PASCO says -Thanks, he knows he is "ALL THAT!" He is 3 yrs old now and our FurKid. See you are from Texas, San Antonio is one of favorite cities in the USA. Love the River Walk. As for SPI, looking forward to checking the Texas Tip area. Thanks ahead of time for any other TO DOs you can come up with for us.
Linda,
We just might have to look you and Howard up. Where is Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge? I read on your journal that you plan to tourguide there this winter. Hope to see you.
We stayed there many years ago. It was quite pleasant, but the best part was there was a very nice seafood restaurant within walking distance. I cannot remember the name, but we had many a splendid dinner there. I think we were only there a couple of days. It's a nice county park.
We were there during spring break- scenery was great!

We have stayed there many times. We windsurf there. Does that give you a hint about the wind?
No real shade, so I don't recommend it during hot times. Winter is great. On windy days it will be really windy.
The Oyster Bar - in the park has great oysters if you like them. Don't let the looks of the place deceive you. There are lots of good places to eat on the island. There is really not to much to do there other than beach stuff (and windsurf and kite sail).
