Hi all!! I am researching the full-time RV life. My kids are grown up and my granddaughter id soon going to college. I find myself, for the first time in my life free to pursue whatever dream I choose. I am in good health and have always wanted to thoroughly explore this wonderful country. I have lived in NYC since I came to the U.S.A.. I live in a rental apartment so I have no property entanglements to tether me. I am doing as much research as possible and would be glad of any caveats the group would wish to give me. Thank you for accepting me to this group

Welcome, Ronan.
This is a good place to do your research for the overall experiences and ideas. As for specific RV's, this site and any forums out there that are specific to the particular brands are also helpful, mostly because the folks there generally have experience with those brands.
Do some due diligence as to where you might want your domicile to be. Some states are REALLY more popular with RV'ers, largely because of the savings on taxes and ease of having a domicile that still allows you to be free to travel.
Feel free to ask questions, and it is also a good thing to simply browse through the different forum "categories." Use the "Search" function as well to see if you can find answers to specific questions you might have.

My advice is quite simple - have a plan. Personally we have a 2 year plan. The current year while not written in stone is somewhat firm in the direction and intent. The second year is a general idea. As we close out our current year we are firming up the next year and planning for that second year again. We try to minimize the amount of criss crossing so we are not replicating routes. Also saves on fuel and other expenses. Once you have a rough idea of your plan then decide on what kind of “rig” you feel will best suit your needs i.e. travel trailer, fifth wheel, class C, class B, class A, etc..
One other thing we plan on, we stay almost constantly at least 2-3 days per stop and plan on staying at specific areas for at least 3-4 weeks at a time. In the 4 years we have been full timing we have averaged 8-9,000 miles a year. Setting up and tearing down every day in my opinion will cause burnout quickly. Take your time, it’s a journey not a race.

What specific questions do you have so far? Many first wonder what kind of RV to get or how much does it cost to travel.

Here is a link to my notes when we rented an RV: ourfutureinanrv.wordpress.com/2015/07/18/renting-an-rv-part-1/
Cut and paste the link to your browser if it does not open when you click on it.
Tell us more about your expectations such as wanting to travel quickly around the country or staying put for longer periods of time.
I would also join other forums for advice although you have come to the right place here at RV Dreams. IRV2 is a great forum at www.irv2.com/forums/
And once you decide on a make and model RV, then joint that specific owners group forums.
