Morning everyone. I’ve been wondering about how toads track behind a motor home when turning. Specifically, do they track inside of the back wheels so you have to allow more room or not?

The track varies somewhat based on the length of the motorhome's rear overhang and the length of the toad. In tight turns, a longer, wider toad will run further inside the motorhome's track than a narrower, shorter toad, but in both cases it isn't by a lot. If you're new to towing a toad, spending some time driving around in an empty striped parking lot can be a valuable learning tool.

Thanks Dutch. That’s kind of what I figured. In my particular case it will most likely track inside as the oveehang will be short and the wheelbase will be long.

Actually, the more overhang there is the more the toad tracks within the motorhome's track. If you picture the geometry, the tail swing behind the rear axle pulls the toad away from the turn direction.

My little Chevy Cobalt toad tracks perfectly inside the wheel track on my motorhome. A motorhome like mine with a tag axle, a diesel pusher or bus with a shorter overhang will also have near perfect tracking. I can't understand how some of those Class A's or C's with huge overhangs and shorter wheelbases can possibly handle very well, let alone track a trailer well. I's be afraid to drive something like this, even without towing anything.

I used tinypics for my image hosting for years, but since they shut it down I haven't found a image hosting site I like. Do you have any recommendations? I've found that imageBB and google photos don't allow you to imbed images in a post, just post a link, which often doesn't work reliably. Unless I'm doing something wrong, which I probably am.

Dutch probably has a good idea with that one. After Photobucket decided to charge me for 3rd party hosting to show images at the forums, I decided to go with Smugmug. It isn't free, but it also works much faster than Photobucket ever did and also provides larger pictures than PB. Smugmug is also "unlimited," which is a good thing because I now have over 39,000 images at my site. And, Smugmug's prices, even for the most expensive package is cheaper than what Photobucket wanted to charge me.
I do have to correct one thing though. While Smugmug doesn't limit the size of photos I upload nor the number of images I can post there, they do limit me to only 5000 photos in one gallery. (Incidentally, I've never reached that number in one gallery.)

Using your photo, picture which way the rear bumper goes on a tight turn using the rear wheels as the pivot point. Notice that it goes in the opposite direction to the turn, so a trailer or toad will also swing that way as the turn is made, keeping the trailer or toad more in line with the coach. The longer the overhang, the more swing out, although there are obvious disadvantages to that as well when it comes to handling, etc.
