We had a Truma AquaGo installed in 2016. It does not have an interior control panel. We've never had it descaled - is descaling possible when you don't have the control panel? Also wondering if it's possible to have the control panel installed now?

give Truma a call. I am same as you ... installed in April 2016 and it has never been descaled ... but I have always had a water softner.

Thanks, Ron. We don't have a softener but maybe need to do that.

Believe me, a water softener will improve your quality of life and your RV will thank you. It is something else to maintain ... but worth the effort, IMO.

FWIW x20 - especially with all the plastic valves and fittings in every RV.

Just as an FYI, a water softener using salt adds sodium to one's water. Wife has problems with swelling of her hands when she drinks softened water. In most places, we never have a problem with the water, but on our new job and staying in hotels, they are using softeners and she has had to take up drinking bottled water. We've never done that before.
We did have a home once that had a softener, and it didn't take us long to have them come out and put in a reverse osmosis system for the kitchen sink and refrigerator.

Thanks, Terry, I really appreciate that cautionary reminder. Salt intake is definitely something we need to be mindful of.

Potassium is an alternative to those with Sodium sensitivity.

Interesting! I didn't know that, Ron.

It's readily available at Lowe's, Home Depot, Amazon, etc. It's Potassium Chloride which is commonly used by those who are sensitive to Sodium.
