We have a verbal deal on a 2018 Winnebago Horizon 40A and so are driving to Hammond, Louisiana tomorrow to check it out on Friday, test drive, etc. We'll be leaving here tomorrow as soon as Jeff gets everything running at work -- technically not a holiday for him since he works in Mexico. We agreed on a purchase price prior to making plans to head that way because it's a 12 hour drive for us. We're happy with the agreed price assuming all is as advertised and there are no surprises. Now are deep in the weeds of getting set to actually pull the trigger! Add to that I'm having cataract surgery on my left eye on Monday so not getting back to Mission on Sunday is not an option! Hence my slight sense of panic!
Right now we're trying to check insurance options. Most quotes we're getting are about $3600 year. That seems high, but we have no frame of reference. We are not going to be full timers. What do you all say? I'm waiting on a call back from Miller Insurance. Miller wanted to know if we were Good Sam's Members. Should we be?
Since the MH still has 2 years of Winnebago warranty left and Dixie RV offers the ForeverWarranty that covers AC's, appliances and a bunch of other things we're not planning to get an extended warranty at this point. We figure we can check that out next year.
I'm tapping this wonderful community for the things we need to know/do in the next 7-10 days?
TIA and Happy Independence Day!

As a big baby I sailed through cataract surgery. You’ll be very pleased.
$300 a month for insurance doesn’t seem outrageous to me.

Thanks Larry. Had the right eye done a week ago with no problems and excellent results. No idea what to expect with insurance rates. Good that it doesn’t seem too extreme.

1 week post 2nd eye cataract surgery. All seems good on that front. About 10 days post officially buying our Winnebago Horizon 40A. Flying back to Hammond Louisiana on Friday to drive her back home to Mission. Lots of things happening in a short time. We have an appointment to have our Jeep Cherokee outfitted for towing next Tuesday, then we will be set for weekend getaways this year and we've started planning a couple week trip for next summer.
