Hello and thank you RV-Dreams for this perfect support forum!
My family of 5 + dog are leaving our big home and beginning the wonderful life transition of full time RV'ers!
We are shopping for a Class A right now in hopes to find the perfect one within the next 2 months.
We are truly brand new to this life - have never even been camping in an RV!
So we have SO MUCH TO LEARN!
Gonna spend some time navigating around - have a blessed Sunday!

Renting will enlighten you to must haves and don’t needs. Will you be towing a car? Is the car four down towable?

Me thinks maybe you should rethink the towing decision. OK let me rephrase I think you should have a second vehicle of some type, maybe something that follows but not towed. If you don't have something, you will be pulling up camp every time you need to get groceries or go anywhere other than the campsite for anything. Just my two cents but I've just been through this thought process in the last year or so and I don't see where it's practical with a second vehicle. But it is your decision.

I kinda agree with arcaguy about having a run-about vehicle.
But WOW! 5 people + dog. I'd love to hear your story. What prompted this big change? How old are the kids? Etc., etc., etc.,

We want to get used to driving a rig without a tow FIRST, THEN we will buy a toad.
Until then, we will uber or rent a car.

The story is way too big for this forum but the short response is that we decided we no longer wish to be part of the "rat-race" AND we are in the creative stages of producing content for a movement/events/books/videos, etc.
It is all about reminding everyone who we are, why we are here and shaking up the certainty of our existence.
Super excited -thanks for asking!

First of all, welcome to the RV Dreams forums.
However, I want to insert a word of caution that can save you major headaches down the road. I highly suggest taking a LOT more time than 2 months to make a decision on an RV and the lifestyle. We are ones that have camped and RV'ed for years, and the wife and I still took two years in making a decision. We looked at both fifth wheels and motorhomes, choosing the fifth wheel because of the way we planned on RV'ing. For instance, our intention from the get go was to spend more time in each area that we visited so that we had more time to visit all the attractions in each area. As such, our RV would be sitting for a longer period of time, and a motorhome needs to be exercised fairly frequently (every month or so).
Also, with the issue of a motorhome, if you need LPG for the rig, you will need to unhook the RV from all utilities and drive somewhere to get LPG. With a fifth wheel, one can just remove the LPG cylinders to get them refilled, using the tow vehicle to take them.
At any rate, good luck in your research and planning for RV'ing.

Thank you for the advice!
We have been doing the research for more than a year now so this is not a rash decision.
However, the minute we think we have something figured out, we learn something else that changes it all!
I know the Universe/God will provide exactly what we need, when we need it.
Our home lease is up the end of June so the plan is to be ready and on the road by then!

Welcome and best wishes on your adventure. So exciting to be setting off on such an adventure. We're in the midst of planning our part time retirement travel adventures. Do you have a motorhome budget?
