I'd like to prepare a simple US map showing major destinations I intend to travel through in 2019. Basically, California to Tennessee, up to Nova Scotia, then down to Florida.
I'd like to share this map on Facebook and Instagram. Have seen others do it - what to use?

I figured it out. Google Maps, put in your beginning location, and ask directions for final destination. You can then move the route between the two points to show your actual route. Alt-prt sc (alt-print screen) captures it, call up Paint, and paste it to Paint. Save it as a JPEG, and post it to your social media of choice.

Google maps is your friend. I've been using it for years. I make up a document from year-to-year showing my trips including overnight stops.
You can't go wrong with Google Maps. Their sync for an account among different device is very accurate.

Google maps works but you can only have 9 or so stops so you might need multiple maps. Travelerspoint.com is free and doesn’t have that limitation...if you check out my site at guntherandkara.com and click on TraVel Maps you can see an example.

Heard some good reviews about Travelerspoint as well. Looks like a good alternative one.

Yup, I use Travelerspoint to keep a running map of our yearly travels but use Google Maps when actually figuring out our routes.

Me to…google for planning purposes but I keep the Travelerspoint map up to date as we travel as well. Actual travel routing I use my RV GPS which navigates around low or weight limited routes but look at google maps as well to make sure the Garmin ain't doing anything crazy.

Must be a good combo for long trips.

I always go online and use Google maps or one of the other map programs and plan out my trip and then print it out and take with us. I then compare that route to the route that the GPS has planned. Between the two and the smartphone we get to where we are going.
