We're glad this didn't happen on a dark, rainy night in an unfamiliar campground. The cargo door handle (pot metal) made by TriMark broke on a jammed, side-swing power cord bay door, making opening the door nearly impossible. A motorhome mgfr phone tech suggested "getting a putty knife and prying the door latch open" - a no-go, and a useless suggestion on a secure door latch mechanism.
The solution was to open the adjacent side swing bay door on the hinge side of the jammed door, and unscrew the hinge nuts/screws and open the door fro the hings side, reach inside and remove the nitrogen strut and trim cover for the hinge mechanism, and pull the release rod. Be sure to have a padded moving blanket/pad under the door, so you don't scratch the paint/dent the door edge. Prior to attempting the handle replacement, order a new one from your manufacturer, favorite RV supply store, the TriMark web page site, Amazon or eBay.
If you have a swing up bay door accessing the hinges from the top may be difficult. If you have an all-the-way through storage bay, you may be able to open the ddor on the other side and crawl through the bay and release the latch mechanism after removing the back inside trim piece.
