Life has been hectic with a cancer diagnosis and surgery and of course in the rush to get things taken care of the door of our frig was accidentally closed when we took our 5th wheel in for repairs. RV had been in storage for 5 months thouroughly cleaned and dried with doors left open. Door accidentally shut during transport at 2 pm today and just realized we didnt remember to block it open again. Dealership now closed with no access....how quickly will this mold? We are to pick up the RV Thurs morning (about 48 hours). Near panic and really need to rest and recuperate without this worry. Should I plan on driving 40 miles to dealership to open frig as soon as they open tomorrow? In for brake work so they dont have a key. Any advice greatly appreciated.

If you are saying that the refrigerator was dried out I don't think there is any issue with mold at all, it needs moisture to grow. I have left refrigerators closed for months when they have been completely dried out with no adverse affects. Even if you didn't dry the refrigerator out I don't think there is going to be a lot of mold, if any, as the time period is so short. How do I know this, I own rental properties and don't like to pay electric bills for a refrigerator that is not storing food and it's really hard to keep them open.

Your fear of mold is out of proportion with the situation. We clean out our frig in the Park Model in April, close it up, and it doesn't get turned on again until October. No problems. For the past 3 years we've turned off the frig in the RV in October, cleaned it out and closed it up with some coffee grounds in (as we do with the PM frig) and not a problem come spring.
Relax, this is not a problem.

After cleaning and a week or so to dry out, I close my fridge and freezer doors in storage. I don’t believe you’ll have a problem.

Thank you to everyone. Life has had it's challenges lately and I tend to over react to the small things since I can't control the big one! It is so nice to have RV Dreams family to count on for good advice. I will rest easy and we will be on the road just as soon as the doc says I can travel. Thanks again.

even if mold shows up it can be easily cleaned with a bleach solution. Relax, take care of your (or your spouses) health and look forward to the better days ahead. Safe travels.
