Recently read an article in the daily RV News about Olympian Wave Catalytic heater. We found them of course under Amazon and invested in one to replace our electric fireplace which is not useable when boondocking. Very please so far with the results of it. Doesn't set off CO alarm. When we first used it set off smoke alarm but that happens no longer.

Do keep it covered when not in use, since dust and pet hair will kill it. When our brick LP heater died we replaced it with a Wave. The Wave can work in higher elevations, while an LP heater that uses a flame will have a oxygen depletion sensor and will not work above 6400 to 7000 feet.

I purchased the Wave 8 a few years ago and loved it. However a mouse got into our rig and climbed up the platinum pad damaging it making it unsafe to use. I called Camco and they told me there are no parts available and repairs are only done at their facilities in Pennsylvania. With shipping , parts and labour it was going to cost me about $200! It wasn't even a year old! If I had known this, and that they were suseptable to dust (desert boondocking) before hand I never would have bought one. I ended up buying a blue flame style good to 6000' for $260. One difference I noticed is we never had moisture on our windows with the Wave but do with the flame style in damper climates.
Cheers!

Well I just wanted to keep myself warm while sitting at the table, I'm the early riser and we use the AC on fan only for white noise.
I went to Home Depot and purchased a ceramic heater for $20. On day two of use it caused all of our 110 outlets to stop working.
I reset all the breakers, there is no light on at the gfi outlet by sink. Fortunately, the fridge, micro, ACs and water heater all work.
Plus now we are in south FL. However, our interior electric is by a heavy duty extension cord into the micro outlet, and other extensions off that for TV, etc.
Yes very classy looking. We have a few pressing family matters, so we'll get service when we can. Of course any suggestions welcome.

Cookie Dough: Look for other gfi outlets that might have tripped, including outside ones. Also, if you have an inverter on those circuits, it might have an internal problem or its own breaker.
We use the Wave when boondocking, since it does not use electricity or when it gets too cold for our electric heat pumps. On 30AMP that means below about 40 degrees, on 50AMP that means below freezing. We do have an electric space heater, the same $40 Lasko with thermostat that Howard and Linda got from Wal-Mart. This is the latest version of that heater - http://www.laskoproducts.com/electronic-ceramic-heater-with-warm-air-motion-technology-model-cc13652/.

Follow up on Bill's comment. We have an inverter and it has two re-settable breakers. On occasion, especially when the Breville oven is used, we have one of those trip, so I get to go outside, remove some stuff from the basement and reach back inside and reset the breaker.

Thanks, I did find a tripped breaker on the inverter. But that only resulted in the gfi outlet lite going on. I reset that , but no 110 power at outlets. there is a fuse box near the inverter, I will check that later. Other business this morning
Also I will check main panel and reset breakers, I was advised they may not look tripped but a reset might help.

Cookie Dough: Sounds like something is wrong with the wiring or a device. Unplug everything you can, make sure all the breakers are on and try the gfi outlet again. If it does not trip you can start plugging things in until you find the problem. We once had a power strip that suddenly caused the gfi to trip, so it can be anything.

We installed a vent-less open flame unit over 2 years ago. We found on sale a unit twice the capacity we needed and bought it, it is only set on #2 out of 10 on its thermostat and can keep us toasty.
It has worked flawlessly from sea less to 5,000 feet with no adjustments needed. With either of these gas units crack a overhead vent or a window a very little.

Our 18000 BTU Empire brick LP heater worked for over 10 years. One day it did not and I could not figure out how to fix it. We did have trouble with it at higher elevations in New Mexico and Colorado and ended up using our LP furnace in those places. So I am happy to have a Wave. There is a KOA in Ouray Colorado that might be at too high an elevation for even the Wave, but other than that it should work.
