Hi All, I have a Pleasure Way Excel RD and will be installing solar soon. My question is once I have the system set up would it be very difficult to have the coach rewired so we could use any or some of the outlets as if we were on shore power? I understand that with the system we will get only certain things could run, ie lower consumption items, but I thought it would be very convenient to use the outlets I already have.
What do others do in this case?
Thanks

Each RV is different so there is no right answers here. Assuming you dont already have an inverter installed in your rig then you should be adding one with the solar install. Your installer should be able to set up your rig to power a circuit or 2 so you can have access to 110 volts.

You might want an inverter/charger, not just an inverter. The inverter/charger has a transfer switch built-in, so it will pass through shore power when it exists. I assume your Pleasure Way is a 30AMP unit, so a 2000 watt or larger inverter/charger can be installed as a "whole house" unit. The downside is you want to turn the inverter function off when on shore power, since if the power goes out you don't want to run the air conditioner off your batteries and kill them.
