Florida panhandle, Jan/ Feb 2018. Suggestions please

Hi,
We'd like to stay on the gulf coast. A monthly stay seems to be the best deal. Since this will be our first time in the area
Looking for suggestions, we got a good one for December

My only suggestion would be go south. IMO the panhandle is too cold in dec/Jan.

I agree that it might be too cold…really depends on what temperature you like. Lows will typically be in the 40s at that time. Still though…Top Sail State Park over east of Pensacosa is nice…as are Anchors Aweigh RV Park in Foley AL and Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores AL. There are also several nice parks down in Cedar Key FL on the west coast…Low Key Hideaway is our favorite but it's not the cheapest and only has 3 sites. There are at least two other RV parks in town and it will be lows in the 50s to 60s in Cedar Key. There's not much to do in Cedar Key though…so staying a month might get boring.

Two places we have stayed in the Florida panhandle, which we would return to are: Henderson Beach State Park (Destin, FL) and Ho Hum RV Park (Carrabelle, FL). Henderson Beach State Park is gorgeous, but there is a two-week stay limit. Ho Hum is adults only and I would recommend that park if you could secure one of the sites that backs to the water (i.e., we watched dolphins jumping out of the water in the morning, sunsets and sunrises all from our back window)—given how tight the sites are (i.e., we could extend our slides and park the truck next to our RV, but that was about it), I would not consider this a month-long location but it could be. The town of Apalachicola is a short drive from Ho Hum, a cute town with great oysters.
Neil mentioned Cedar Key; Cedar Key RV Resort is the place we would choose for a month-long visit. Low Key Hideaway is a good option for a shorter stay, particularly if you would enjoy regularly hanging-out at the tiki bar and enjoy the water views from that property, but you need to be comfortable with your backing-in skills (i.e., they stop traffic on the road, to enable you to back into one of the Low Key Hideaway sites, which are directly off the road) … not a place to practice your backing-in skills.
We personally have no problem with the temperatures in northern Florida in January and February; but that is a personal decision (i.e., if I need to run the AC in the winter, I choose the wrong location).

We may just stay on the southwest side of FL, not USA in Jan / Feb
and go to panhandle area in March
Having lived my whole life in NY, starting in Brooklyn and moving east, now in Suffolk county
Putting on the A C in Jan would be OK, much better than shoveling snow

Hey there Cookie Dough. I hope you are enjoying your new life since your launch last month. We will jumping off ourselves come the end of January. After heading to central Florida (Bushnell) for a couple of weeks to establish domicile, we will spend a month at Escapees Rainbow Plantation in Summerdale, AL which is right off the panhandle of Florida. Whatever the weather is it will be warmer than it will be here.
Maybe we will see you on the road!!

Was down in Robertsdale Alabama Christmas 2010 to end of Feb. 2011. Had some windchill in the lower 20's, majority was in the 35-45 early am and 55-70 degree days! I was just off I-10 at Hiilltop RV Park.
