Hello RV-Dreams. We are Cindy and Jerry Shields from Little Rock, Arkansas. We met on match.com (don't judge - lol) and have been married almost ten years. We are one of those couples that really really really like each other and enjoy being together. We bought our very first camper a little over a year ago and took an extended trip out west and were HOOKED! Although we are not technically retired, we can see the end of the tunnel in the not too distant future. We are excited to come to the Fall Rally in Tennessee and learn about the full time RV life in order to make an informed decision as to whether or not this is what we want to do in our 'golden' years. However, I'm pretty sure if we could pack up and hit the road today, we would! We are ready to see new places, meet new people and just enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle with each other and our three fur babies. So, let's get this show on the road, literally.

Have you ever gotten over to Crater of Diamonds State Park? If so, any recommendations regarding a short stay?

Hi everyone. I am Hans from Roxborough, Colorado. Retired and single, I began my RVing experience last year with a new 23.5' Oliver fiberglass travel-trailer towed by a 2013 Chevy Suburban 4x. After traversing Colorado's mountains, I recognized the need for a tow vehicle with a bit more pulling power and this January traded in my Suburban for a 2017 Silverado 2500HD Duramax 4x. Now, I have zero issues with towing my 6000 lb. trailer. My initial goal was to get introduced to and comfortable with the part-time camping life, especially in the regional National Parks. For most of last year, I camped with my son and daughter, on separate occasions, building my confidence to handle and maintain the trailer. Then in late August and early September, I began my solo camping with a two week stay in and around Yellowstone. It was a great experience and convinced me to continue going solo this year (not that I had much choice). So far in 2017 I have visited some of the NPs of Utah and recently returned from Wyoming where I hiked the Tetons and Wind River Mtn trails near Dubois, setting up base camp in Dubois. A planned two week stay in Hungry Horse, MT. is in the works for next month to do some hiking in Glacier NP before the snow sets in. All of these trips have been in full service campgrounds. I have yet to try my hand at boondocking even though my trailer has two solar panels (320 watts) plus 4 AGM batteries with a 2K inverter. So theoretically, I should be able to camp anywhere for at least a few days. Which brings me to my To-Do List: a solo multi-month trip to Alaska, and the possibility of selling my house and going full-time next year. Recognizing that my camper may not be ideal for full-timing, I recently began researching 5th wheel TTs. I am coming away with the sense that there are a lot of quality control issues surfacing with recent builts - thanks in part to the upsurge in RV sales over the past few years. So, that is the point I am currently at. In the meantime, I plan on enjoying my camping trip to Montana next month.
