D-day is finally approaching! April 10 is our scheduled pick up date for our new home on wheels (2017 Arctic Fox 29-5K). Our tow vehicle is a 2017 RAM 3500 4x4 DRW with factory air ride.
Since I tend to worry myself sick, I have been obsessing over bed rail clearance lately. Does anyone have this exact setup, or a 29-5T, which is the same chassis? If so, what is your clearance to the bedrails of the truck?
I'm hoping for 6" at least, based on the reading I have done. The dealer "thinks" it "should be 8 or 9", but since he wants my signed check, I take that guesstimate with the standard grain of salt. It's Been a long time coming, but I think we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! Thanks in advance.
Regards, Kyle

6" is about the least I would live with and that's close. I doubt seriously anyone here has the exact set up to provide known numbers. You could do measurements but it won't change anything. If its too close do not despair. The trailer can be raised and this really isn't as big a deal as it sounds.
Best not to just run the hitch up and have the trailer running high in the front. That puts additional weight on the trailer's rear axle and naturally tires. Only correct thing to do is raise he trailer by having a riser put under the frame of the trailer. MOR/ryde does this all the time but a complement axle shop can do it as well.
All new pickups have higher bed sides so this is a common issue but one that can be dealt with should the need be. Perhaps the newer Arctic Fox design has taken this into consideration and there will be plenty of clearance.

Thanks for the reply, Bill. I will keep my fingers crossed that it will have sufficient clearance from the factory. Would be really nice to back up, hook up, and have it land perfectly, with room to spare.

Have you tried asking this question on the Northwood forum?
Thanks for the suggestion, Kim. I tried that site, but abandoned it when I got a message that I had to pay for it. No thanks. I've been a member of dozens of forums, for years, and never had to pay a penny. I suppose it's a moot point, really. The trailer is built, awaiting shipping to the dealer, and the truck is what it is. I will be the first to know on delivery day!

All true and yep, it might be just fine. But rest assured if its not it can be fixed and ask away if you need more information.

I think you get a free trial period. Being an Arctic Fox owner I joined and paid to participate in that forum. It has been very helpful and well worth the small charge. But this is/was all new to us last year so we had lots and lots of questions.
