We want to go full time. My husband is 67 and has medicare. I am 57 and have years to go before medicare. We are working on our budget to see what it will take to go full time. Lots of numbers are flexible, but health care is not and it is a hugh expense. Practically a budget buster. What do you do? Do you go with out it, get major medical or what? I look for your thoughts.
Thanks.

DH has insurance through the ACA with Blue Cross. In state and in network it works so when we are in the area for our home base he does doctors appointments, etc. In case of an emergency it will only covered if an emergency through the emergency room. We were told under the ACA all policies cover emergencies even if out of your state.

This is a huge concern for my Wife and I, as well. Wife drew the cancer straw at 43. She's OK now, but without good medical insurance, our boat might have sunk, so to speak. $1200/mo for COBRA coverage is a major burden for us, but given our past experiences, it's money well spent. We are covered in all states, with a $4000 max out of pocket. I am nervous about the future, but am holding out hope that the suit-dummies in DC will get it right somehow. Funny, I know!

We are full time and I retired at 63 and have had nationwide coverage thru BC with ACA for two years now.
We are domiciled in Florida and this year my monthly premium is $99. and I have been very pleased with the coverage. BC has provided in writing should ACA be overturned it will "hold" the monthly premiums thru the end of 2017.
I met with a health care navigator to discuss my options, time well spent he was VERY helpful; plus I did a ton of research on my own.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.
