We were contacted by another member of the RV-Dreams family about meeting up at the Ballon Festival. Since we have never been to it before and being on the lazy side I looked up and old post and tried to get some suggestions from others who have attended the event. now I see that it has been closed, I don't get it.
So I'm still asking for info on the event if you will please share your knowledge with us. we purchased our reservations and have inquired to volunteer some. Just like to hear others take and experience on the event.

It was closed because it was so old the information wasn't relevant any more.
We will be there with Escapees from the 6th to the 15th. Have to look into volunteering. What are the dates you will be there? Maybe we could have a RV Dreams meet and greet For those that are interested.

You will have a great time! We stayed for all 9 days this last year (2016). We stayed in the South lot which is the least expensive camping location and we thought that the large balloon landing area right out our front windshield made it a perfect place to view the action when not at the launch site. Bus transportation into the launch site was an easy way to get around.
Volunteering is easy, just follow the signs once you are into the grounds. With over 500 balloons there are plenty of opportunities.
The night time events are amazing and are followed by some of the best fireworks shows I've ever seen.
Here is an important bit of information. They can NOT launch on days when wind is a factor. This becomes important if you plan to be there for only a few days. 2016 had several cancellations so we enjoyed visiting the sites around town on those days.
It is a well organized event with a 100,000 of visitors at times. The launch site is so huge that it is still an easy place to get around. Plan on walking many miles each day (3-6 miles).
RV'ing is the perfect way to attend. Afternoons are always free time, so a nap will make-up for the before sunrise start time. Your nap will prepare you for the late night activities.
It seemed that the south bound winds sent the balloons right over the south camping area almost every morning. Many days the best place to be was right out our front door.
Balloon Fiesta is a definite "bucket list" thing in life. You will love it!

Yes you will have a great time. If you're looking to camp with friends you should meet up before you enter the camping area. If you enter at the same time you will be parked next to each other. They also have a shuttle service.

Made our reservations last week. Really looking forward to this event. We had plans to attend in 2015 but life got in the way. Any RV-dreamers that are attending look us up. We will be in the south lot.
