I've been in and out usually talking about solar or boondocking which is what I have been readying the rig for. It has always been a dream to go on the road but this year it went from someday to 1/1/17. It has been a awsome Indian summer here and I have been packing and finishing up the trailer during the day and researching at night. Dreams do come true but it's a lot of work it seems. I'll be heading down to meet up with some folk at the Q first and then....

Congratulations Jim, a true testament to where there's a strong enough will there's usually a way to achieve most of what our hearts desire and our minds can conceive.
Make every mile pass with a smile.

Congrats! While Bill and I won't make it to Q this year - I know there will be plenty of other RV Dreamers there to meet up with!

Thank you both. It will be great to see the systems and plans actually work for more than a few weeks at a time. Tomorrow the trailer goes to the shop for some work that I'm not allowed to do anymore. It started out with a roof reseal, then they agreed to trade my A/C for a fantastic fan and will finish it up by flipping the axles, packing the bearings, etc. We haven't used the A/C in years since the solar runs a small window shaker, it will give me more room for mounting the panels this weekend.
Loosing the A/C also gives me shade free solar without having to tilt. I tested the system on the ground for a season and avoided the temptation to prop them up for the full power effect. I wanted to make sure they provided flat or change the system. A panel mounted to the roof of the truck would be easy to tilt, less likely to grow legs and will provide a nice boost early on as the main system wakes up.
I'll have to see if there is a group from here in the Q this season. It would be nice to shake some hands.

I wanted to update this.
I did make it out 1/1/17 at 1 pm. I spent the first night in a rest stop just south of Raton pass, the second night was in a trucking companies yard waiting to pick up a 435w solar panel and have been in the Bosque bird watchers RV park every since. I was suppose to spend the night, dewinterize, fill the fresh water and move on. The thing is the last few months have been a wirlwind and this boondocker has never had full hook ups before. So I am staying till the weekend, enjoying long showers and getting some birding in while I am at it. Just down the road is a bird reserve with hundreds of Sandhill cranes, can't pass that up.

I see you have been a member since 2013 and are just now getting the dream going. Gives me hope as I have a 3-5 year plan then hope to do the same! Oh and I just joined.
