My wife and I are about to start fulltiming next month. We will be needing to change banks. Has anyone noticed an HSBC bank anywhere in TX?

Is there a particular reason you want a bank that has branches in TX?
When we went full time, we chose a bank (Chase) that has a large footprint all over the country. With Cash Back options and deposits by smart phone, it doesn't matter as much anymore.

Thanks for the question,
We currently live in Hong Kong & have an HSBC account, all my cc are HSBC & an HSBC USA account also. At some point I'm going to need to see a banker about other options.
After 20 years abroad we probably have little, if any credit history in the States & looks like were stuck with them for awhile.

Looks like they don't have any branches in TX, only east & west coasts. We will have to find another option once we arrive.

We still use our Navy Fed Credit Union Account and they have relatively few branches…but their ATM network is pretty much everywhere. I just keep some mail in envelopes for any deposits that come in…although they also have the submit via photo from your phone in their app. They refund any ATM fees and are in both of the major ATM networks…but we usually just get cash whenever we pass a branch or one of their ATMs in our travels and keep cash in our safe in the rig for daily spending purposes. Don't spend much cash anyway…with a no fee and cash back Visa card from them we pay almost everything with the card…no interest since we pay it off every month anyway.

Capital One took over HSBC credit card operations back during the credit meltdown. They operate several branches in TX.

PS, and again FWIW, I'm with Neil & Connie... NFCU would be a good choice if you can do it. Many brokerage houses offer similar ATM services (including refunding ATM fees). Actual branch offices would only allow check deposits they usuually do not handle cash however. Schwab comes to mind, for one. Pretty sure Fidelity would be competitive. If you do mostly electronic banking and pull cash from ATMs... just about any bank will fill your needs.

If you are a military veteran, USAA is an option for banking. We had always used local banks up until a year before retiring and hitting the road. All of our banking is done online, and the wife uses our all-in-one printer/scanner/copier to scan in any checks for deposit. Everything else is done with USAA's Visa Debit card for the most part, which can work as a credit card instead of a debit card. And, USAA also refunds any debit card charges that are done at non-USAA ATM's.
