Please remember also to use your 4-way flashers when descending a long grade if under 45mph, to let drivers behind you aware of your speed. What I have learned over the past years by travelling in my motorhome, I remember that your maximum downhill speed should be the same as your previously maximum uphill speed !

The rule of thumb about descending at the same speed as going up really does not apply with the higher HP and torque engines in most RV's now. It's wise to follow the truck speed limits and start down the hill in lower gears and or lower speeds.
Nothing beats experience when it comes to mountain driving, know your limits and don't be one of those that blast down the hill. You have to know your equipment capabilities too, some have excellent exhaust brakes or transmission retarding systems, other not so much.
Be safe out there and enjoy the ride downhill, fuel saving mode!
