First time posting here! We are leaving Oceanside California tomorrow and plan on winding our way back to Vermont - would like to complete this journey in two weeks - with time spent (3-4 days) near Boulder (north of is fine)... Way out we went through Utah/Nevada via Vegas, 15 etc... Thinking of heading back the northern route via Rt 80... Looking for MUST SEES, Preferred places to stay (clean/dog friendly) and lessons learned. Somewhere near Boulder area a RV Resort or comfortable relax spot preferred...(will need showers and laundry by then lol!!!) Thanks!

3 years ago we stayed in the Longmont CO area, not too far from Boulder, but a bit more affordable. The state Park, St. Vrain, was wonderful, but pricey if you don't have a CO park pass and with 2 vehicles, I think our fees were $42/day as they charge $7/day per vehicle plus the campground fee, we did have FHU, wonderful walking paths in the park, etc..
We also stayed at the Boulder CO Fairgrounds, reasonably priced and right on the bike trail. Not sure what shape the bike trail is in, we left there due to the flooding in Sept 2013 and the St. Vrain river had crested so the bike trails were underwater, but that was almost 3 years ago. We found it easy to explore Boulder, Estes Park, Rocky Mtn, National park from the Longmont area, plus there were lots of stores / services very close by including a Laundromat. We LOVE Rocky Mtn National park, definitely a must see along the way. Used to be our summer vacation escape when we lived in Dallas.
In Southwest CO, Mesa Verde National Park would be another "don't miss" on my list, but not sure if you're route is taking you that way, the entire SW corner of CO, Durango, Telluride, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Mesa Verde, etc. is all great.
