i just ordered a Casita Spirit 17 Deluxe (of course 😄) so I can join back in the lifestyle  pary-time and I can tow it with my car. I'm excited now as it was very hard to say goodbye to our Trilogy and Truck. I'm pick the Casita up at the end of August in Paris, TX In time for some fall camping!

Now I'm getting nervous, guys on a Casita forum are telling me I am risking towing it with my Lexus RX350 with a tow package.Â

I know what you mean, but with this great group... you'll never be solo (if you know what I mean). Hope to see you on the road in the future. And you're always welcome at the S&B... well at least for a couple of years. Happy trails.

Dave and Diane,
According to some as my Lexus IS rated to tow 3500 lbs, I would need to pack Casita and car lightly. I won't be living in it, I don't think, so I should be ok.

Sherry,
Go to a Lexus dealer and get the real numbers on your Lexus. They can look at the information on the vehicle and get you the GCVW (Gross Combined Vehicular Weight) rating for it. Then, get the Lexus weighed with what you think will be in it, including full fuel and you (and any passengers or pets) and subtract that number from the GCVW of the Lexus. That will give you a better idea of how heavy of a trailer you can tow with it. Also, remember that anything that goes into the trailer will add to the weight that you are pulling.
Going by a manufacturer's "tow rating" is always an iffy way of choosing a trailer.
And, like the others have said, good on you that you are going to get back into RV'ing. Glad to have you back.

I'd urge you to consider getting an auxilliary trans cooler added to your Lexus IS. If you load out close to 3500 lbs your Lexus tranny will appreciate the extra cooling capacity. My Equinox is rated for 3500lbs and after a trip with a pop-up in tow and a SUV full of gear to WI from IL... my trans was protesting... big time.Â
FWIW.

Thanks for all the welcome backs and the suggestions. I take them seriously. Any and all recommendations are appreciated. I really miss my Jesse especially when it comes to things like this but I think he'll be proud of me that I'm not giving up or in.

That sounds great Sherry! Since you are picking it up in Texas you should come down and visit. I know we can find you a spot to park it... at least until December... Then it gets a little dicey until March.

Hi Sherry,Â
I was curious if you follow Interstellar Orchard. She is a solo female, full timing in a Casita.Â
Thought you might be interested if you had not heard of her.Â
