I was in a car accident a few months ago and lost my job. I couldn't renew the apartment lease without a job so I decided to travel for a few months. I'm currently in Colorado and headed towards Montana to see my brother. I've notice over the past month how happy and less stressed people in RV's are. Haha! With rent getting to be so expensive, I'm thinking of buying an RV and traveling full-time. I'm hoping to get a decent size settlement from the accident and using that money towards a truck and RV. I'm thinking of buying a used 5th wheel.
As I'm sure is the case with a lot of RV'ers, generating income while on the road is a concern. It's just myself and my dog so I know I can keep expenses fairly low compared to families out there.
I'm sure I'll have tons of questions but for now just wanted to say "Hi!"

Welcome! Normally I am all about researching the life and really thinking it through, but after reading your story I just kept thinking why not...lol. Sometimes there are incidences in a persons life and they end up being catalysts for change. Nothing wrong with that. I will say as a general rule I think people who live in their RV's are happier...I really do. But it's not a permanent vacation, you bring who you are with you, and it can have its own share challenges. All that being said, it's really working for lots of us. Good luck to you!

Thanks! I went back to college about 3 years ago and received my AA last December. I was taking classes to go for my 4 year degree when the accident happened. I had to withdraw for the semester. I'm planning on taking online classes to make it easier for me. I'm not one to jump into things. I've been thinking about this 2-3 months now. I don't want the money from the settlement to go towards renting an apartment. I still haven't decided between buying land or getting an RV. For now, I'm traveling and if I find a place to stay, I'll make it work. If not, RV.
If weather wasn't an option, I'd probably buy land in the mountains. But I've been living in S. Florida for almost 10 years now. Don't really want to do the whole "winter weather" thing again. Haha!
