Are any of you all using one of the faith based Medical share plans instead of insurance for your medical needs? If so, what are you experiences with it? (Private message if you prefer)
My wife is a diabetic on an insulin pump which I know we will have to foot the bill for her supplies and insulin. With the change in the health care coverage and no nationwide coverage I am really thinking about going this route since I am not anywhere close to Medicare age. But I am just wondering what others experience has been with the different alternative health share plans.

I am of Medi Care age but my DW isn't. Upon her retirement we faced a similar issue. There are a few healthcare ministries out there and after some due diligence we signed up with Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM) and they are doing fine by us. You are responsible for your medical expenses but they reimburse you for whatever is covered which is just about everything except yearly physicals and other items they feel we should be responsible for...and we have no problem in that. HCM has three levels you can pick from, ours is Gold (the most expensive) and it is $150 per month. You can call them at 800-791-6225 or email them at chministries.org and the will send you all the info you need to make an informed decision. If you sign up and mention my wife's membership number (190202) we will get a month free .

I have been looking at that one and one other. Thanks for the good feed back. Dave Ramsey advertises for CHM so I would assume it is good.

We use Liberty Health Share. They are a very liberal "Christian" group. They allow people I really feel they shouldn't. My normal work week is 7 days. Can't physically attend church services regularly. So this group works for us. Now for coverage it is very good. We pay our "non share amount" they pay the rest. Payments are light and have actually came down instead of increasing as health care insurance has. We have had no problems getting hospitals, doctors, clinics approving it either. Believe it is 150% pay of medicare. They are happy to get it. Yearly physicals are covered without non share payment.

Are you full timing? And if so how to you meet their attendance requirements?
