Hello, my husband and I will be renting an RV on May 14th for a month to travel from Connecticut to South Dakota and eventually down to Sedona Arizona where we would love to live in a few years or at least the surrounding area. This is our first time in an RV, we have NO experience, have only camped many years ago with a tent which was NOT our style...this should be an experience and we are very much looking forward to it although we're a bit nervous. Any tips? All are welcome. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. What kind of tips are you looking for? You've asked a very open ended question!! Are you asking for RV driving tips, camp ground tips, places to see???
My advice, take your time, site see along the way and watch the weather! May is the worst tornado month for much of the "tornado alley" area, so be alert.
We also enjoy the Sedona area, Cottonwood which is about 20 minutes away is high on our list of places that we could consider settling down for part of the year, when we're ready for more extended stays.
Enjoy the journey.

Well let's see....we are mostly concerned about being able to find a place to stay overnight until we get to our destination before we make reservations. We will be driving quite a bit the first few days just to get there (Badlands) then taking our time until it's time to return home.

A pretty easy way to plan a trip is to lay out your starting point and your destination on a map program (I use Google maps). Then choose stopping points 250-300 miles apart (our best-liked distances for a day's travels). Plan on an average speed of 50 mph. When you have cities chosen for your overnight stops, go to an RV park website (I use RV Park Reviews) and find parks in these cities. You will likely have to change some of your overnight stops because the city has no or no suitable parks, and before you know it, your trip is planned.
This is just a quick suggestion for a start in planning. Refine it as needed.
Good luck and enjoy your new lifestyle.

Other sites / apps to use in finding RV parks, RVParkreviews.com, AllStays, The Ultimate Campground site, etc.

We had never RV'd either when we started out and finding campgrounds was challenging for a newbie. I wrote a post about it that I would like to share here. Still holds up pretty well. I will say that like anything with time and practice it gets much easier, but it is stressful in the beginning.
