My husband and I are in the market to buy a 35 to 40 foot 5th wheel and really confused on how to even start looking. I will have to admit we have looked at a DRV and a Cedar Creek Champangne Edition and believe one of these will be the one we purchase. I have been looking at the reviews for each one and it seems as if the DRV is a better built unit. However, when inside the DRV, it seems the cupboards in the unit are extremely tall as with the full sized refrigerator and since I am so short, I will need a stool each time to be able to reach the top of said each. Whereas, in the Cedar Creek unit, everything seems to be fairly aligned with my height restrictions. Does anyone have any idea about the Cedar Creek as far as how well they are built and any other issues on these units? Thanking you in advance...........

If you can find a large RV Show nearby, that is a good place to start. There will be many manufacturers represented at the show with lots of 5th wheels to look at.
Try to find a show that is put on by the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) rather than a show put on by one or a couple of dealers. See this website- www.rvia.org/
There are a couple of manufacturers that will customize a 5th wheel for an extra fee. You may be able to get better sized cabinets.
We keep often used items in the easy to get to cabinets and rarely used items in the harder to get to cabinets.
Good luck with your search

We bought a used DRV that is now 6 years old and at this point, after a few frustrating months of ongoing repairs, my current thinking is that overall it's a well built unit but it's underlying weakness is having to use the same mechanical components as all the other RV manufacturers. I will say I HATE Lippert right now and if there was anyway to have a rig built without any Lippert components, that's what I'd be looking at for my next unit.
We have friends with a relatively new Cedar Creek that had a few issues the first 3 months after they bought it, but those bugs now seemed to be worked out. Neither of us are very tall and I didn't see any 5th wheels that were made for full time RV'ing where I wouldn't need a step stool.

My Heartland Landmark is the most trouble-free coach that I've ever owned.
