Trying to decide on a trailer model. Here's a choice that has come up. Some of the narrow/small/light units have one slide that a u-shaped dinette rides on. I like the idea of this, having some actual floor space rather than a train-car type of floorplan. But I hate the idea of a big fixed-to-the-floor dinette because it's not great for playing a guitar etc. Would prefer a movable table, which some of the models do have.
Do these wind up being a pain in the neck or not? Looks like you have to fold the table down every time you move and stow behind the couch. This is easy for 2 people or one tall one, but I am solo and short. Can I instead just fold it down and use some non-slip to leave it on the floor? Just want to get an idea if this is a furniture option that people wind up regretting.

Booth dinettes typically have storage underneath the seats, accessible from inside, and sometimes - outside as well. In addition the dinette usually drops down and the resulting platform is another bed for guests. My kids used to sleep on one when they were younger.
From a Full Timing/Solpo perspective, I would prefer a movable table and chairs.
Hope this helps.

Unless we are having guests our dining table ends up as a desk and craft table. Instead of clearing the table for meals, we use TV trays. The TV trays are easy to manage and stow inside a closet.
It's a lot easier than messing with the dining table or a fold down dinette table.

Similar to Bear, our dinette is seldom used. We have a coffee table that lifts up to be dining height for meals. Sometimes it's just easier to not fight my hubby's clutter in trying to use the dining table.

I much prefer the table with chairs, not a dinette. I find dinettes to be rather uncomfortable to sit at & I like the flexibility of being able to pull the chairs out to use them in the living area if I want to.

Pat,
We had the setup you are describing in a Surveyor travel trailer (U-shaped dinette in a slide with a movable/collapsible table). The configuration was convenient and the table was no problem to fold down and strap on top of the dinette cushions for travel. My only complaint was that there was some play/wiggle in the table mechanism that made it not as stable as a regular table. It was OK, though - it was a travel trailer, after all.

I own my second mh and I always had a moving table; actually, mine round table sits in the slideout with 2 chairs and the 2 optional folding chairs hidden away in the wardrobe.
For just the 2 of us, we leave the table attached to the floor with its own bracket but when comes time to have 4 people having lunch, we move the table to the middle of the coach and install the 4 chairs around it, which gives us plenty of room.
