Hi,I guess you can tell I am new here.Will be fully retired in two months at 62.

Never had a regular store bought rv,always tented or threw stuff in a van.

Been traveling by Amtrak the last decade but wanna stop more along the way at my pace.

I don't need anything fancy,I kinda keep it simple.I like the Sprinter vans but that is more than what I need cause I wanna make sure being on the road for extended periods of time is what I want. Six weeks is about my longest,I am travelling by myself.

My name is Bill,Dblstack referes to trains..one trailer stacked on another Would like to follow some of the main rr lines and see the hot spots,historical places,and small towns along the way.I have no plans soo maybe I have the right mindset already.

I have not explored this site yet so alot of my questions will be answered just by having a look see around.Thanks for having me.

Welcome, one RR fan to another. I worked 15 years in intermodal loading and unloading the stack cars along with TOFC. When they hired me the joke was "You're gonna pay me too? Awesome!" I no longer work in that department but it was interesting work operating huge cranes. Big toys to guy like me. LOL

Rvers come in all different sizes, and goals. Enjoy the search and the let the good times roll.

Pieere...I was just a kid in a candy store with Sprinters..too many tv shows and you tube videos I an going to stay with a van design for sure.Nothing big,something easy to get around in.

Don't need much as I look at how I live..need to draw up a list.I will be going to an rv show in three weeks that the hosts here will be speaking and plan on attending in Vandalia OH.

I think any other comments or threads I make should be in forums area..

Well one more comment..When in an RV where does Santa come down a chimney? Children' s minds wanna know,well for that matter so do I 

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHnEoiCgoxo is questions and answers from a Canadian RVer using a Kimberly stove in his RV.  He had one in his Class B and now has one in his Class C.  So, you can have a chimney in an RV.  Since Santa is magical, he can squeeze down a 3 to 4" chimney.

Funny Bill..didn't know they had wood  stoves for rv's.

As Pieere said I have been looking into his recommendations. I kinda like the Road Trek due to the longevity of them

Seem to be well built and has the basics for what I need.

Boondocking in the middle of nowhere is not on my list yet,have done it back backing but never when I had to rely on a vehicle to start in the middle of nowhere.

This me in PA..somewhere near the Maryland border.

I went down to the solo section to start my own thread,all the others were older but I did not see where to to start a new thread.I may be blind as a bat buttt...I read somewhere on here it is better to start your own thread than get off topic on somebody else topic.

After watching more You tube vids I kinda got figured out about want I want.Used of course since I will be new at rv life,but not new to camping or being on the road a little.

Winter around here so might be a good time to shop,salesman will be kinda money hungry.I know I can get a used one cheaper from an individual but..a dealer should at least go thru the unit and check it out and fix a few things.I know the mechanics of the chassis but know nothing about the rv workings.
