Bill and I are heading out of FL at the end of January - heading WEST to (hopefully) catch up with some of you in AZ!
The most obvious route looks like Rt 10 and we would like to stop in New Orleans, San Antonio and Carlsbad Caverns. Is there anywhere else that is a must-see? Are there any CG's along the route we should consider?
We are thinking of taking 2 to 3 weeks to complete this trip, arriving in Quartzite mid/late Feb.
Any suggestions/advice is welcome!
Thanks in advance!

Good plan and route we have taken quite a few times. Carlsbad is a must if you have not been before. The end of Jan will be cold most of the way. Lots to see en route. Suggest White Sands National Monument in Alamagordo, MN and Kartchner Caverns in Benson, AZ (different than Carlsbad). Might be cold but Chiracawa (SP?) National Monument south of Wilcox, AZ is spectacular. As far as campgrounds there are lots to choose from. There's great one on the river in Holt, FL but I've forgotten the name. Gulf Coast in Beaumont, TX is handy for an overnighter and cheap if you have PA. It should warm a bit by Tucson and there is a bunch to see there so save time for that. (Pima air museum, Cactus parks, Titan Missle Museum, Tubac ec)

I normally recommend a stop at the Escapees park in Summerdale, Alabama, Rainbow Plantation. Just because it has some of the largest sites in the Escapees system and is a very friendly place.
We visited Carlsbad Caverns in March, our 3rd visit, and enjoyed it like we had not been there before. It is very worthwhile.

Enjoy the ride! It gets better once you get out of FL. That stretch of 10 from Jax to Tallahassee might be the most boring road the in the country :)
If you get a chance for sure stop in New Mexico for a few days. Lots of great parks and scenery.

We loved Cajun country around Abbeville, LA. We stayed at Betty's RV Park and had a blast. The park will not win any awards for beauty, but Betty makes this a really fun place to stay.

We did that exact route last year. Loved Grayton Beach SP in FL, Gulf SP in AL, Palmetto Island SP in LA a MUST (did not care for Betty's), stayed at a SP just north of Carlsbad, Kartchner SP in AZ. We'll be leaving Q very end of Jan, but will still be in AZ through April. Hope to see you guys there!

This sounds great! This will be one of our first trips so we can see Arizona Fall League (baseball).

We just did Charleston SC to Boerne in Texas last week. My advice would be to make sure you have a full tank of fuel going through Houston. Lots of stop n go traffic, construction etc. Do not get off at the Pilot just before Houston, you won't know but there are 3 small roundabouts to get around before you reach the truck stop! Not fun in a 40 ft DP with tow dolly! No idea what idiot designed that and they are still building it.
Going through AL is interesting, lots of bridges suspended over water/swampland, we really enjoyed the views. A few of the bridges look really high, but then not so much as you get closer. All in all, we enjoyed the trip, won't recommend any of the campgrounds we stayed at, wasn't really impressed with any. Have fun and good luck
