I'd like your opinions on traveling two different routes from Roswell, NM to Las Vegas. I've attached the two that come up most when plugging in directions in the numerous travel sites. What I'm wondering is if the upper or lower route is more compatible to my Ford 350 diesel dually and 20K trailer.
Weather, Fuel availability, Inclines / declines, RV campgrounds. Never traveled cross country before in an RV so we're learning as we go and from the insights of those of you who have.

Don't see the attachments but I'd go over the mountains to Alamagordo then I-10 to quartzsite and up 95 to Vegas. Been that way a few times. I like the California/Nevada 95 north of I-40 as opposed to the AZ 95 north of I-40.

We just traveled this highway again about a month ago, there were some improvements over the summer, some areas were obviously freshly repaved, but there are still some pretty rough sections and we were driving in just the truck without towing.

There is two ways but quickest and easiest is north on 285 to I-40 turn left or west to Albuquerque, Gallup, Kingman Az, turn right go across bridge at Hoover dam and on into Vegas(777 miles). Or go the long way through Ruidoso, Las Cruces NM, Tucson, Phoenix, Vicksburg, Parker to highway 95 turn north all the way to Vegas but you miss that bad part of the interstate. (920 miles)
You can cut across country and go Roswell, Carrizozo, Socorro, Datil, Eagar AZ, Winslow, Kingman and Vegas(750 miles, alot of two lane and mountains.

Thanks all,
Made it to Vegas safe and sound using the suggestions here. Will be leaving here mid February, heading ultimately to Atlanta Georgia by a southern ( warm ) route. Any suggestion here ? Want to stay warm and sight see along the way.

i40 is the best bet if weather is any concern. Be careful driving into the city at night. Pretty sharp turns and EXTREMELY dark.

Mid Feb is awfully cold to use I-40. Might be snow. I'd go down to I-10 and take it over to Texas then I-20. (or I_10 right to FL then up)

We usually take 1-10 this time of year and we just traveled this last Sunday. We stay in Deming at the Escapees park then continue past Phoenix to Cotton Lane RV park in Goodyear to spend the night. From there get on the 303 to 60 to Wickenburg AZ Hwy 93 will take you to I-40 and close enough to Kingman AZ you rarely hit weather. It is a pretty drive for the most part. From Kingman take 93 to Las Vegas. It is less than 5 hours from Goodyear to Las Vegas. Bring your heavy socks it is 46 and the wind is blowing like crazy!
