You can't buy happiness, but you can buy an RV and that's pretty close.

After 7 years of research and our dream to become full time RVers finally came to fruition July 28 2015, a few days before our goal of August 1 2015. Selling and giving away many of our long prized possessions was a most painful exercise. However, after almost 6 weeks we gave up possession of our 2 bedroom apartment which had been our home for 19 years. A few items we didn't want to give up but knew we didn't have room for our stored at our daughters house. Many other have managed to come with us. We purchased a 2005 Northwood Artic Fox 295T. It was a little older than what we planed on but because it was in such perfect shape and a floor plan we wanted we bought it. Luckily, it has considerably more storage space than we first envisioned. In fact we still have some space left. We have decided we will downsize once more with any articles that we haven't used for a year. Our shake down trip began with 4 weeks travelling around our home province of Ontario visiting family and long lost friends. We followed up by a few weeks in New York state at a Thousand Trail campground which we joined. We have come off the road for the month of November for various doctors appointments. We have our trailer behind our sons house which is free. December 1 we will be heading for the warmer climates. We are eager to meet new friends along the way.

Mike,
Welcome to the RV Dreams forum "family." I don't know if you've lurked around here before registering, but you'll find this to be a good source of information from a bunch of knowledgeable folks. Glad to have you with us.
Hope the doctor appointments are more for preventative and not serious issues.
Oh, and I love the quote you have in your signature.

Thanks for the welcome Terry. Yes the doctors appointments are all pretty much preventative. One was a medical for my drivers license as I am maintaining a commercial license for this year anyway. I may let it slide next year. Next year we will be a little more prudent in bunching all our doctors appointments in the same few weeks rather than spread all over.

Always great to hear from more fellow Canadians! With an anticipated FT date in late 2016 or so, we look forward to reading all the great advice on this forum, and particularly hearing from others who need to spend half the year in Canada. We are from Saskatchewan - not nearly the welcoming climate in early spring and late fall that Ontario provides, so I'm sure we'll be spending time in your wonderful province when the time comes for us to hit the road. All the best to you in your journeys and keep posting: I'll be watching for you!

Thanks for the welcome. Indeed, never seem to hear from very many Canadians. I know there aren't nearly as many of us full timing in Canada as there are in the U.S. but it's nice to know that we aren't alone. We spent two weeks in New York state up in the Catskills and we were the only Canadians in a huge park. We always proudly fly our Canadian Flag hoping it will attract fellow Canadians. We have spent several months in Ontario Provincial Parks. Most are pretty nice but some far nicer than others. When you do start to work your way into Ontario, you should make a point of staying in Chutes Provincial Park in Massey Ontario. It has been one of the nicest Parks we have been in so far. When we return in the spring we will be seeking out private parks to possibly stay put for the summer. If you haven't joined RV Village yet I encourage you to do so. I find it's a great venue for keeping track of other Canadians found here: http://www.rvillage.com Stay well Mike & Nancy

Thanks for the advice on the park in Ontario, and the mention of rvillage. Hadn't heard of that before. Shivering today in Sask, and dreaming of warmer places :)
