We are interested in traveling the lower 48 states over 6-12 months with our 4 kids (ages 7, 10, 10, & 12). We have rented a Class A for 3 weeks & didn't kill each other! We currently live in Alaska so even going to the RV shows is difficult. I'm trying to do my research to see what we should be looking for (Class A, C, 5th wheel, or TT). We are most likely looking for low maintenance since we are not mechanically inclined. Interested in new or only a few years old. I am the only driver since my husband is legally blind, but I drove the Class A & did fine. I would like separate sleeping quarters for each kid if possible (not sure if bunk beds are available on any except Class C). It's going to have to be fairly nice to convince my husband that I'm not completely insane. He actually does think it's a cool idea. We don't have a strict budget and could look at most options (probably couldn't afford custom, I'm assuming they'd be crazy expensive). I'm thinking up to $150-200K. We'd probably keep it for several years until they got older. We don't have a towing vehicle so anything we get would be new/used.
Would very much appreciate insight from much more experienced travelers. Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Welcome to the forum. I don't travel with kids or pets so can't help you on that.
Just my 2 cents FWIW... 48 states in 6-12 months is super ambitious! When will you have time to actually stop and smell the roses? Seems like you'll be on the go and not have much more than a day or 2 to fit everything in.
Of course, I respect that travel plans for everyone is an individual choice. My preference is to stay at least a week or 2 to get the real feel and flavor of the area I'm in. Also to have time to visit the small towns as well as the tourist attractions.
Good luck in your search!

There are some Class A's that have Bunks....but not aware of any that would have separate quarters for four/six. You can google Class A with Bunks or go to RV Trader and filter by bunkhouse to get some ideas. I have seen families traveling in toyhaulers, as another option.
