The new Tesla Model X can tow 5000 pounds. Who is ready to buy one? The cheapest version is $75,000.

With no towing it's range is rather limited.... do you think it will make to the next plug-in with 5K trailer in tow? 75,000 dollar drive way decoration.

Tesla's have decent range for electric vehicles, especially where they have their charging stations. Most people do not drive over 200 miles a day in their normal life, often less than 50 miles. We have friends who own both a gas and a fully electric car, a Chevrolet Spark EV, with a range of 80 to 110 miles. They drive the Spark every day, since work is under 5 miles from home. The gas car is not driven every day.
I do suspect the towing range is lower than the normal driving range, but was just having fun when I noticed it could tow 5,000 lbs.

Me too, though I still think its an expensive driveway decoration. I suspect the Model X's claim to fame will be the rich folk with 75,000 burning a hole in their pockets owning it just because they can. More power to them.

If the camper has solar panels on the roof, and could be charging the car batteries along the way, then couldn't this work...... at least theoretically?
