Just wanted to let everyone know - Bill and I are working at Amazon for the first time for the fall and I will be blogging about it as we see how it goes! If you would like to follow - here's the link: bkamericanodyssey.com. This is not to say EVERY word will be about Amazon - we plan to visit friends and distilleries and the corvette museum and Mammoth Caves and other fun stuff too!

Was so excited to see this. Am planning to go FT in the spring and hope to workkamp at Amazon next fall. I've listened to several of their webinairs just to get an idea of what is required. One question - you said that you were able to move from one CG to another. From what I've read, it sounded like it was hard to get into Heartland. Did you have a problem getting into that CG? I see you have cats but do they also allow dogs?
Keep us posted on your experience.

We are at Heartland also. If you come in September, or even into October, it's not hard to get in here. There are 111 sites and right now there are about 25 or so still open. So people who come in one of the final groups might not be able to get a site if those last sites fill up. They do allow dogs, and there is an area across the street where people walk them.

Bill and Kelly,
We are at Amazon as well in Haslet, Texas. Tomorrow we finish our first 4 - 10 hour week. So far so good. They only using Camperforce in receiving and ICQA, no picking or stowing.
Everything here is automated so for picking and stowing they are using Kiva robots to bring the racks of bins to the associate who just has to walk up and down a step ladder.
Hope all works out for y'all up there!

Diane - seems Jessica answered all your Q's! Thanks Jessica!
Les - it's is so funny you said that - about using robots - I just said to someone tonight that I was so surprised that stowing and picking are done by people! Seems robots could do a much quicker and efficient job! I said this having no idea that's how they do it in TX! I guess it's good to take advantage of these jobs now - they probably won't last!

Kelly,
Here is a link to what the Kiva robots do:

The entire Haslet plant is set up with them, 4 floors of them. The warehouse is 1.1 million square feet so that is 4.4 million Sq ft of storage!
