What is the best way to sell a Motorcoach? RV Trader seems to produce deadbeats

We have been trying to sell our Tiffen on RVTrader.com so that we can order our last Coach as we plan to retire. I have had 4 inquiries and all but the first one never reply or only after we have sent them 2 more emails, do they answer. (1) Was a serious contender, said he had financing & was ready to buy-then flat nothing.....? (2)"Bought another model" (3) Guy was phishing, wanted us to come down $40,000; No response after I declined his suggestion....? (4) No response after 2 emails. Do these people just not have communication manners/skills? Why do they ask about the item and then just never answer? It is SO frustrating! Thanks for letting me vent. Anyone seriously looking for a one owner, non smoker, 2008 Phaeton Tiffen, 42 ft, $139,500. Serious inquiries only

Number 3 was probably a dealer or reseller. Nice coach, by the way. You might want to fix your link by taking the space out between RV and "Trader dot com" (I spelled it out to avoid reprinting the link). Clicking on the link as you posted it takes you to a different website. (a Canadian auto trading/selling webite)

Unfortunately that's how it goes now days. Lots of folks are "looky Lou's". One of my friends buys and sells classic cars and he is always complaining about the number of folks who respond once and then never call back or never show up to look at the car once a meet has been set. Same on the buying side, he calls about an advertised car and the seller never calls back. He will try for days and never gets an answer or call back.
Lots of folks have had luck with Craigslist. The buyers will usually be local to your area.
Post flyers at local campgrounds/ RV parks.
A consignment RV lot. You don't have to deal with the buyers the lot takes care of everything. Some charge as high as 25% commission. Be sure to get their marketing plan in writing... where they will advertise, how long the ads will stay up, some references from previous customers...etc. This is the easiest way but not always the best way.
Caution: If you sell it yourself and the buyer wants to pay in cash, since you are dealing with a large amount make sure the transaction takes place somewhere safe. At your bank or lawyers office, Police department lobby...or with lots of friends to watch over the transaction.

We just recently sold an RV and had it listed on multiple sites/forums (RVTrader, Craigslist, IWANNA, and eBay Motors). There were several types of responders: 1) scammers who were ready to purchase "sight-unseen" and send me a check (which I'm sure would bounce shortly after being deposited); 2) resellers who wanted to sell it for me... for a price, of course; 3) people looking for a "steal" and low-balling me on the price [serious or not]; and 4) one nice older gentleman from two states away who had seen the same model in person, liked the condition mine was in, made a reasonable offer, sent a certified bank check for a deposit, and drove to my location to pick it up (with another certified bank check). In other words, you'll get all kinds - but it only takes the one to sell your RV. Just be extremely careful of the others (especially if the email responses lead you to believe that English is not their first/native language).

Funny, Wendy. The email reads like some that Dr. Phil has read on the air from "catfish" scammers (fraudulent profiles on dating sites to bilk gullible people out of money - often operating out of Nigeria or other West African countries).

I just sold mine by putting it on consignment with a local RV dealer. He is not a consignment dealer per se but does take some. He charged 10% and handled financing and regional advertising. It took him less than a month to sell it. I had tried Craigs List, the local newspaper, and several forums for over two months with no luck.

Thanks so much Clay! Our good friend (the dealer) has done this 3 times in the past for us and it worked well. I guess we just thought if we had the time and could make a bit more $$ then why not try. But we just discussed at lunch that perhaps we contact him and see what he can do.
