Are you or is someone you know looking for a fulltime or parttime home with covered RV parking in the Texas Tropics? This fully furnished home is located in Retama Village in Mission, TX and is a great value when compared to new construction. Retama Village is a gated, 55+ active adult community. We have a beautiful clubhouse and pool area, lots of hike and bike trails and are located within walking distance the World Birding Center and North American Butterfly Association Headquarters. If you are a birder or love butterflies, there is not a better place in the world. The owners of one home here have recorded seeing over 100 different butterfly species along with over 100 different birds! If you like kayaking, there is a resaca just down the road that is beautiful. Love to play golf? There are over 55 golf courses in the area. Quilting? We have a group for that. Geneology? Yep. Euchre? Bridge? Woodworking or carving? Whatever your interests, there are some folks here who also enjoy that.
Jeff and I live in Retama Village and we would love to show you this home and the community. Even better, we would love to have you as neighbors!
Give me a call. I'm happy to answer all your questions from the perspective of someone who lives here and knows the community intimately.

Carol,
It says on the listing that the HOA dues are over 2100, is that correct?

Because many of the owners in Retama Village are not here year round and don't want to have to worry about landscape maintenance while they are gone, the HOA dues includes landscape maintenance. The HOA portion is about $540 a year for the amenities and the remainder varies a little with each property and is for the landscape maintenance -- lawnmowing, weeding, mulching and shrub/tree trimming. That comes out to about $28 a week. Typical charges for private maintenance are $30-35 a week so it's not a bad deal.
Are you guys looking for something similar?

We are just looking around the internet at rv port homes, to see what is out there, not specific to any area right now as we have a s&b.
Thanks for the info, the home is beautiful.

The primary reason I chose to relocate to the Mission area 3 years ago was due to cost of living. I moved from Austin TX because the cost of living here is almost 20% less than in Austin. This area was recently named the most affordable in the country by those Motley Crew financial folks.
after living here some of the things I really enjoy are the fact that I can spend the day at the beach but don't have to worry about hurricanes (we're 70 miles from South Padre Island), the weather is great -- summer is not any worse than anywhere else I've been, warm, friendly people and convenience -- shopping, airports, etc.
What don't I like about the area? while there are good concerts with big names in the area, ticket prices are crazy. We can got to San Antonio, Houston or Austin for a weekend and concert for less than tickets are here.

Not meaning to hijack the thread but hope this helps if someone is looking into the area. Your home is beautiful. We have not yet hit the road but have been taking notes as to what others did when they hit the road.
I read up on Retama Village and found it attractive and is on our list for a future visit. Travel With Whippets has over 54 posts on the area. Here is the link.

Roger and Dianne (Travel with Whippets) are great neighbors! Their dogs Tequila and Bandido are such sweethearts too.
If you are a pet lover, Retama is a great place. When we adopted our dog, Chuy, we told the rescue organization that residents here sometimes don't know the people's names, but we all know the dogs names
