Just wondering if any of the Dreamer family currently or has in the past owned a Trek rv?
As I mentioned we're looking for an RV and after looking for a bumper pull light enough to tow with our current truck, we decided to see what was out there in the used Class A or C world.
This week we happened across a couple of Treks that look interesting enough to go take a look at. They are both 2830s -- one a 1999 and the other a 2002. We like their shorter length and the bed that comes down from the ceiling in the front. Since we're newlyweds, different bed times are not an and we love all the storage that these models offer in such a short size.
We're not looking for a full time rig, more parttime, but on the surface these units look like something we could easily take a longer trip in.
I did a search and it looks like Mike had one at one point, but not sure if that is still the case. Does anyone have his email?
All help and opinions are welcome. Heading to New Braunfels this weekend to take a look at some RVs! Very excited!

When Lucky Mike checks in he should have some insight, but he doesn't check in daily. I have known many Trek owners and they were happy owners.

Thanks Bill. That's good to know.
We're also going to look at this 2001 DutchStar while we're up there. Just not sure about the length and it being gas...
The original owner of Safari that manufactured the Treks was a big guy. He had all of his models designed so they would be comfortable for larger folks to use. That's one of the reasons for the drop down bed. It provides more living space than other MHs with fixed beds.
Large bathroom areas is also one of the great features of the Treks
Thanks Bear. We found the owners group and joined. Small and helpful group... One of the things we like is the spaciousness of the bath and living areas. And being newlyweds we're okay with the drop down bed... I think... lol

the 99 is an oroginal Trek......the 2002 was built by monaco.......I enjoyed my trek with very minimal problems.....the Magic bed was ok , but tough if some one didnt want to get out of bed early and the bedding must be removed before raising it...........other than that for its size it was great for running around.......I gave mine to my brother and he enjoys it the same.......
they do have kinda a squirrelly nature if the water tanks are full while driving.....the tanks ate behind the rear axle and a hundred gallons of water tends to make the front end lite and the coach will wander........if your looking at the diesel unit , doesnt have alot of power in the hills.......

Lucky Mike: Harney Renegade, huh? Hopefully you or a previous owner has gone over it and fixed all the issues. Harney was a subsidiary of Safari that mostly made delivery trucks, but made motorhomes during slow times, even just a few hours a week. That meant they were often built sloppy. When Monaco bought Safari, they ended up doing extensive repairs of many Harney motorhomes.

Thanks Lucky Mike. Good to hear from an actual owner. We're a little worried about the comfort of the mattress but figure we should be able to improve that adequately.
Not too worried about the water, and good to know about the weight distribution issue.

Bill......I got my fair share of work when I bought this one but.....for 9k for a diesel pusher(350 cat) and no leaks I did well and could sell the engine and tranny for more than that.......it is in decent shape and everything works......besides , now I dont have to take my shoes off when I come in!!.......LOL
