A search for vacuums turns up mostly old posts. I'm thinking of getting a replacement for the Dirt Devil (aptly named, by the way) and am interested in the Dyson Stick. Can someone give me info on which is the most economical and useful one, and where to purchase it. There are so many on line, it is confusing. Surely someone here has one that they would recommend. Do I really have to spend $300.? Thanks, Pat K

I was totally opposed to spending that much money for something I didn't even enjoy doing/using, however, have found it to be one of the best investments we made. It's so convenient and easy to use and really picks up the dirt. We have the DC59--not sure if it's the most economical one out there; we purchased at Kohl's with a 20% off coupon, so that did save a few bucks!!!

Don't really mind vacuuming once I get around to it. But would like to be using that energy to remove the dirt, instead of fighting with the vacuum cleaner and hose. Will check out the DC59. Can probably find a coupon on-line. Thank you Cori. Pat K

Not sure which model we have, but I absolutely love my Dyson cordless vac. I got so sick of fighting with a cord and having to change where it's plugged in when vacuuming the s&b as the cords never seem to be long enough. Of course, that's not a problem in the mh. The Dyson is so easy to use. My adult son vacuumed for me and commented on how much he loved the Dyson. I think he and his wife went out and bought one. You'll be glad you got it.

We like our dyson cordless. I was surprised at how well it picked up.

One of our boys got their mom one for this past Mother's Day. I was thinking it was not the best choice for a Mother's Day gift. To my surprise she absolutely went bonkers, her first comment was "this will be perfect for the (as yet unobtained) motorhome!" She's been a Dyson fan for quite awhile, and was very pleased with how well this model "sucked", and how maneuverable it was, not to mention the cordless aspect. It's hanging on the wall in the laundry room of our s&b as we speak. I lovingly gaze upon it often as it represents the first official motorhome related acquisition for us. Can't wait to add the optional 40' Phaeton DP holder soon!

I realize this is an older thread, and I'm reluctant to comment since I'm still a condo dweller, male and single. With those caveats, I have two cordless vacs and I love them so much that I feel compelled to evangelize.
My upright is the Hoover Lynx; lithium battery, compact design and great ergonomics, plenty of suction for basic floor cleaning, and a steal at the price:
I have Craftsman C3 tools, and they make a wet-dry vac that runs off the tool batteries. Not as powerful as a plug-in, but it does what I need. It's only a practical choice if you already have the batteries and charger, but it's a no-brainer if you do. Perhaps other tool makers have something similar.
Between them they handle all my condo needs and my occasional light shop projects.

Thanks for all the comments. As I posted somewhere else, we ended up with a Shark Rocket True Pet. It has a cord. But we were astounded at the "sucking power" of the brushes. I've never had anything like it and I have a whole house vacuum system in our sticks & bricks. (we RV part time) A plus is that it cost much less than Dyson. Pat K
