I just spent the night here and I can highly recommend it to everyone except the hermits. Just 4 miles off the Trace on a good road. No actual screening between the sites but they are very well spaced and most of them are right near the water. Many will take almost any size rig combo and the one pull thru site goes forever. There are some trees but in most cases the larger sites are completely open to the southern sky.

This is a Forest Service campground but not like any I've ever been in on the west coast. Fully paved, level pads (though the smaller sites in the trees have an incline to get to the pad), 50 amp power, water, and the bath rooms are great - even a pair of laundry machines. Each has a large cement area for the table with fire pit and elevated charcoal grill.

There is a boat launch if you are towing a boat and smaller boats, canoes & kayaks can be launched directly from many sites. Skiing is allowed on the lake but only Friday afternoons, Sat, Sun, & federal holidays.

All this for $20 a night.
