i am sure you answered this many times, but what do you do for Mail if you want to keep your S&B state as your residence and be legal? Excited to start FTing in May.

we used a UPS Store while keeping our Indiana residency for a couple of years. They provided us with a street address and dependable handling of our mail.

Did the UPS store ship your mail to you or did you wait till you went back home to get it? We use Excapees and have it shipped to wherever we are when we want it. Thanks, Pat K

UPS store works similar to Escapees and you can set up your forwarding schedule and location, we have had both over the last several years. We would prefer and recommend Escapees mail service but the original poster was inquiring about keeping their Kentucky residency and Escapees is limited to Texas, Florida or South Dakota.

The reason I asked if we will likely make Texas our residence and Escapees Our mail service since that will our "home base" for 6 months, but we are from Ohio and that will be our "home base" for 6 months and we are just checking "what if" we use Ohio and mail forwarding. It sounds like UPS is a nice option. Texas has the tax advantage (plus our Son's family is there), but just checking options for Ohio.

We changed our address to the address of a friend. What little mail we get goes to her and she scans and emails it to us. We let her know if we need the hard copies or not. If we need the hard copies later, we provide her with pre-paid Priority Mail envelopes which she fills as she goes. When an envelope is full, she emails us and lets us know. At that point, we give her an address and she sends it out.

a lot of considerations to ponder when changing domiciles including taxes, insurance (medical and vehicle) voting, cost of changing licenses/registration etc. We were working (and living) in Indiana which is why we kept our domicile there for the first two years after selling our sticks and bricks. Our UPS store was in a smaller town and we got to know the owners who were aware of our lifestyle.

Good luck on your decision.
