Hello everyone! My name is Christy and I live about 30 miles north of Louisville, Ky with my husband Jason and our three dogs (Buddy - Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever; Lois Lane - Kelpie mix; L.B. - Chiweenie). We currently live in the middle of 11 acres in a log sided home and have run our own web based business from our home office for the last 7 years.
We have been weekend RVer's for about 8 years and just purchased our first fifth wheel this past November (we haven't even used it yet - it just sits in the driveway teasing us, currently buried under a foot of snow). We've kicked around the idea of full timing for a couple of years. Recently we've made the decision to downsize so we can travel more and decided we'll do one year of RV travel to test the waters. If we love it, like I think we will, we will continue. If not, we'll choose a place we love from our adventures and purchase a small house.
We are currently on a minimum of a 1 year plan due to some contracts our business must fulfill where we need to be local through October of this year. We then plan to put the house up for sale in the spring of 2016 and hope it sells fairly quickly. We have our doubts as to the quickness of the sale due to our rural location and acreage, but one can hope! Aside from our mortgage we are 100% debt free. We are 39 and 40 years old so retirement isn't in the cards for us just yet, but we can easily take our work on the road. We will be traveling with our three dogs and we will be working from where ever we are, which means internet and dog friendly bases are an absolute must.
We still have a lot of research and planning to do, but we have started the process and have started downsizing what we can. I've been pouring over the RV Dreams site for the last week or so and am thrilled to have such a great community to turn to! I'm sure I'll be asking a million questions, but until then I'm in research mode.
I look forward to chatting with you all! :)

Welcome Christy to the forum and welcome to the class of 2016! We are also listing our house in spring of 2016 and heading out upon sale of it, and like you we're in the country so a little worried as well. I'm a firm believer that everything will work out for the best though. Wish you the best in your plans and traveling with the pups! You'll get some great info on here, so you'll feel pretty comfortable when you head out I'm sure. Take care and again welcome!!!

Welcome! Use the search box above on the main page. Many here have good information and are rv experienced. Got questions! ! Ask away!
Having employ that you can take with you is great. For interent questions; Technomedia may be your ticket as this team is internet savvy as they run a business on the road.
A lot more parks are allowing pets. Dogs as long as they are not aggressive breeds is thier major concern. Enjoy this lifestyle. I am sort of on the sidelines now for awhile with some mending to do. Then possibly on the dusty trail again.

Welcome Christy and Jason.
A year's gonna go by fast. With work and research, you'll be there before you know it.
There are a few tech folks on here that have been FTing for awhile. Good sources.
Good luck and happy trails!

Thank you all for the very nice and warm welcome!
DebbieM - L.B. stands for Little Bit. He's our latest rescue and is a 4 year old chiweenie. He only weights 10 pounds but he picks on our 110 pound Pyrenees daily...and wins. His initials could easily stand for something else. ;)

Welcome, Christy and Jason.
You will find that RV Dreams' forums are excellent sources of information because the folks here are very friendly and willing to help by answering questions and offering options to consider. So, ask away and don't be afraid to ask the questions. The only "dumb" questions are the ones that don't get asked, and thus, one makes expensive or time-consuming mistakes.
It looks like you'd fit pretty well in many "families" around here, as I'm sure there are a number of crafters on the forums as well as photographers. In our case, Jo does sewing and machine embroidery, but isn't much of a crafter, and I'm the photographer in the family.
