Has anyone had any buying experience with PPL Consignment on the PURCHASING/BUYING side of the equation? They seem to have very good deals on Consigned RV's. One thing that I am a little concerned with is if they actually can perform an inspection for you of the RV that you want to purchase. A mechanical go over would be a good thing even if you have to pay for it. I assume that some of the units will have some service records if they are consigning for an owner but I am not really sure about this either. If I were to buy from a private owner I like to have service records and some history on the RV etc.... Any comments or experience on the buying experience with them would really be helpful.
QUESTION TWO
I know that this has been asked before but I would like to know anyone's opinion on buying a used RV with Mileage over 70k. Lets say a 2000 class A Gas coach has 70,000 miles on it which equates to 5,000 miles per year which seems to be the average. If there are adequate service records that indicate good care and the coach is in good condition, would you have a green light in buying the coach at this age? Obviously there are going to be some things that you will have to fix because of age, wear and tear, tires etc, but from an age and mileage standpoint, would you buy it?
QUESTION THREE
What is the oldest year that you can purchase a warranty on a coach?

Question 2 answer- As long as the service records show no major or reoccurring problems and good preventative maintenance with no long gaps, I would consider a gasser MH with 70,000 miles. When looking at service records I look for oil changes on a regular schedule...if there's a gap for example 10,000 miles without an oil change then I would suspect the service invoice may have been left out due to some major issue like an engine overhaul or transmission failure. Something the owner didn't want you to see. Or the invoice may have been lost.
So the best insurance when buying used, is to have an independent mechanic inspect it.
Keep in mind most Class A MHs are built using commercial truck components. These components are designed for over 300,000 miles of reliable fleet trucking use unlike a light truck or car which are designed for about 200,000 miles under normal conditions of use.

I have bought, my 06 Mobile Suites, and sold same unit at PPL. On service records, the buyer is at the mercy of the owner/seller. When we put ours on consignment we were asked about everything one could image about the Mobile Suites. PPl collected all I surrendered. I was working a shutdown and had a week off before next shutdown and I didn't have much time to correct some things. We told them all we knew and when walk thru was done found these items. Called us to see if we would pay to fix. All was fixed and customer satisfied before sale finalized. This was also true when we bought it. Actually PPL listing of units on line shows the units that qualifies for extended warranty.
