Getting ready to install a replacement inverter. Question is will I need to disconnect the solar controller before disconnecting the batt. terminals to install new inverter? Don't want to fry anything. Thanks.

If you disconnect the old inverter from the batteries, you should be good. The batteries have charge with or without solar, which is the danger. Disconnect negative first, reconnect last. Watch where you put those cable ends, it is best to cover them so they can not arc. Take photos, label everything and then disconnect. Take this as an opportunity to label and clean up your cabling.
This is an inverter/charger, not just an inverter? With an inverter charger you have both 12 volt and 120 volt cables. Don't mix them up, like my father-in-law did once.

Thanks Bill. this is not n Inv. / chgr. I have separate "Converter". I always, as you suggested, wrap the ends. Sometimes, no matter how carefful, essy to bump something, then BANG.
