Howdy Howdy Larry and Bandit,
Welcome to RV Dreams.
I am also a retired truck driver & O/O for several years. I retired at 62 1/2 because of arthritis and sure enough enjoying not having to meet del/pk-up times anymore. In fact the DW and I have no schedule at all except for the weather. We're from NW MO and at this present time we're in Beeville, TX about 60 miles north of Corpus Christie. Our plan is to head back toward home around the 1st of April and stay a couple of months or so, until hot weather sets in and then we'll go to cooler weather.
I have a 2006 Newmar Scottsdale 32' model 3201 on a F53 Ford V-10 Roadmaster Frame, with 2 slides, that is for sale or trade. The coach has low miles at 24,700 with new tires in January. Check this model out on line and see if you would be interested. NADA price with the upgrades and ad on's, place average retail at just over $80,000, but it can be bought in a cash sale for less. I also have tow vehicle that can go with it.
And Skeeter the toy poodle Greets "Bandit" also
Happy Camping !!!

Hey Larry and Bandit (makes me think of Johnny Quest),
Fellow Coloradoan (or is it Coloradan?) here. Well, been here since '78. Think that's close enough. Many welcomes to you. Hope things go well with the sale of your house. Enough snow, it's time to get out of Dodge! 5 more months for us.
Also, good luck on your RV pursuit. So many models to choose from. Don't know if you're going to venture up but the Denver RV show is this weekend at the Stock Show arena. Pretty big. Regardless of if your going new or used, we still hit them to get ideas.
Happy trails!

Welcome, Larry and Bandit.
You will find the RV Dreams site one with very friendly folks that are willing to share their knowledge. It's like one big happy family around here. Glad to have you with us.
As for us, we are practically neighbors. Jo and I are living in our Mobile Suites fifth wheel at Mountaindale Cabins and RV Resort, which is located between Canon City and Colorado Springs, about two miles off of Highway 115. In addition, Jo has a sister that lives in Canon City, so we manage to get down there every so often. She also has a sister in Colorado Springs, so we're about halfway between the two sisters.
If you should ever desire to meet up sometime, use the messaging feature of the forums. That is found by clicking on the username of the user of your interest. That will take you to that user's profile, and at the bottom of the profile is a link to the messaging comment section.

Welcome Larry. I am also a native Coloradan and truck driver. I am sliding into retirement and looking forward to the freedom. We began planning this several years ago and now have everything lined up. Only truck modifications left to become nomads.
You'll find all the information you need with the folks on here. Can't wait to see you out there.

Hey Terry,
I'm not too far from you, I'm northwest of Canon City 11miles up highway 9. I think I know
where you're at, do you have a lot of truck traffic from Rocky Mountain trucks? Yes there
are a lot of friendly folks on this forum with a lot of knowledge.

Yes, Larry. Trucks go by the park almost every day, going to the Red Canyon quarry (I think that's the name), but they are always going at 30 mph or less, so they are never a problem. Jo and I like to walk a 1.4 mile loop from out site to the west to the Red Canyon road, then southerly to Barrett Road and back to the campgrounds and our site. We see some trucks when we walk, so we try to arrange which side of the road we are walking on based on the curves in that road. We always wave and get return waves.
It's been a long time since I've been up Highway 9, but it wasn't too long ago that I drove the Phanton Canyon Road and Shelf Road to take pictures. All of that area is beautiful country.
Maybe we can meet some day.
