Hello! My name is David and my wife's name is Annie. We live in Southeastern Indiana and have ben camping in our 27 ft RV (tow behind) since 2010. before that we had a pop-up and going back into the dark ages we had tents
We have 5 kids; our oldest is now serving in the Navy, the next oldest will be 18 in a few short months and has no interest in continuing the adventure...at least not at this point in his life. This leaves us with 3 kids ages 7 - 15. My wife and I are both in our late 40's and we really want to enjoy traveling while we still have some of the kids with us. The kids are all homeschooled and we are finally at a point where we can both work remotely - that is assuming we have internet and cell coverage.
We are planning to sell (or trade) the camper and get a Class C. We looked at Class A's thinking that they would give us more room, but I have to say that the cost of tires, shocks, etc. scared the daylights out of me. Besides, we have both always preferred Class C's anyway so we will stay with the original plan.
So this would be a trial to see if it would work for us. We are thinking of giving it a few months and heading out to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, California coast, Washington, Oregon, etc. . If all goes well I could see us making it a long-term thing. In the mean time this seems like a good place to get information and ecouragement. And who knows, maybe there is something that I can contribute to the conversation as well.

Welcome aboard. I think you're going to find a lot of folks with a lot of information here.
I've been on this forum since last April and can truly say that almost every time in, I've learned something new. You can find conversations ranging from connectivity set-ups to logistics (how not to blow your fuel budget in the first month) to the top ten things you should have on board. And plenty of the conversations are just entertaining. But a lot of knowledge.
And don't forget to use the 'Search' feature at the top of the page. That'll help you along.

Welcome David and Annie. We are also new to this and are looking at going full time late summer or early autumn. We have two sons, both in the military, one in the Navy and one in the Air Force, and both are married. We're looking at Class A's, but that is just a personal preference. While we are still in the research stage, we are excited, and very nervous, about taking the big step. These forums and the people on here are very knowledgeable and have been a big help. We're at the point of researching health insurance, taxes and changing domiciles via mail forwarding services, and to be honest it's enough to make your head spin. Just when we think we have it figured out, something pops-up that throws a monkey-wrench into our decision. Good luck in your adventures and maybe we'll be your neighbors someday somewhere on down the road.

I work from our rig (without the kids so it's a bit easier lol) and mostly it's been really good so far. I think the trial run is a great idea and love that you have a plan. Welcome aboard...it's a great group of people.

Welcome aboard. Our first trip was a cross country trip with our 17 ft Jayco Kiwi. I bought it in Alabama when we got orders to Edwards AFB in California. Me, my wife and 2 boys took our time driving across the country and saw many amazing things (including the Grand Canyon). We had many great memories in our little Kiwi. Can't wait until we start our full time experience (28 mos. to go).
