Hello everyone, we have introduced ourselves before and appreciate all of the advice we have gotten when we had questions. We had not sold our house yet when we first posted. But I am happy to say we sold our house and we bought a 2013 Montana High Country yesterday! We will be moving in in the next couple of weeks and are very nervous and excited!
We plan on staying in the area for another year and a half and working at our jobs and saving money before we hit the road. We are both 51 so we still need income coming in, so we will have to somehow find workamping jobs to survive.
We live in Evansville IN, which is in southern Indiana. Is there anyone else out there from this area? If so, we would love to meet sometime.

Kevin and Dana,
Congratulations! I am a very jealous because we are still in the pre-planning stages. We are slowly dwindling down our household goods to get the house ready to be listed in June or July. Hopefully it sells quick, and for more than we paid for it, so that we can get our RV and get out on the road! We are in a bit of a different situation though as far as money. I am 52 and retired two years ago, and my wife is a retired homemaker since bot of our kids are grown and out on their own. I was lucky enough to have a great job with a great retirement, so we should do okay in that respect. We are in Las Vegas and can't wait to get going!

Congrats Kevin and Dana....and wishing we were you!. We'll be similar to your situation next year though in the workamping part. We are listing house in April 2016 but I will only be 58 and not able to get SS yet. Hubby can but not me, so when we head out for the first few years, we'll be workamping. That's fine with me...it's a change of scenery and away from the stress of my current job, so I can live with that! We're heading close to you this summer in June for a very large Bluegrass Festival in Nashville IN. It's very beautiful area up there, but Indiana roads......whew.....they're horrible! Even had PA roads beat and that's pretty bad! Good luck and glad you're on your way!

Welcome to the experience !
The year & 1/2 that you folks are referring to should go by pretty quickly. Living in an rv is somewhat like living in the s&b to the extent of doing things to make it yours. Just the little things that will make it more homey and personal for you will be easier since you are familiar with the area and have friends that have tools and knowledge. I know that with our 5'vr there were just little things that we wanted to change after we actually set-up house keeping a 1,000 miles from home. We hadn't even stayed one night in the 5'vr before we left on ThanksGiving day of 2014. No Menards or Lowes for miles from where we are in Beeville, TX. And since we are FT'rs now also, we don't have a lot of the bigger tools or friends who are carpenters, electricians and ect... . Many of the things we needed or wanted had to come from an RV supplier any way, and the closest one to us now is about 100 miles and it is very small - emergency items mainly. So, internet ordering here we go. Enjoy your time in the 5'vr.
Oh yes, one more thing. You will read and possibly already have read of RV Dreams folks who set a date in the future and then cut that time way back for what ever the reasons. So, unless your date is set in stone, ????? ENJOY

Congratulations and welcome aboard. We are in our late forties so understand how the final step to sell the house and pretty much everything else is emotional and bit scary. We made the big change last August and love it. The sense of freedom that comes with mobility is wonderful and addictive. Taking some favorite home decorations has made the transition much easier. It does make packing when preparing to move our rig more time consuming, but for now the extra ten minutes is well worth it.
Have fun!

Congratulations !!! The conflict between whether to stay and save or just go go go is tough. You can learn a lot though living and staying in place.
